Hi Everyone. My name is Scott and...
I have been reading through many of the posts and listening to the problems
and I feel that sometimes putting forward success to show that it is possible is
always a positive way to influence people. So don't worry be happy.
I suffered from quite extreme social anxiety, I couldn't go to family gatherings- found it
impossible to make friends, and left my bedroom a maximum of once or twice a week
for an hour at a time. I lived looking out of my bedroom window and finding my freedom on the
internet. I would frequently suffer panic attacks just at the thought of being required to
go somewhere that there were social convensions of any kind - especially dressing a certain way.
My success is that in 2 and a half years I've quit smoking, I've moderated my anxiety and I even
moved to another country without my house family or anything familliar. I worked through
the knots of anxiety one by one, starting with talking over the counter to shop keepers.
and over all started to beat down the demon. I'm pretty much free now, except for particularly social
events like funerals and organised parties. But I'll be going to my first gig in over 4 years on wednesday to see
killing joke so wish me luck!
Anxiety is possible to control and hold down. It's the longest fight ever, but it's better than being the
victim to it. I haven't had any professional help until now, as I couldn't leave the house to get it and
couldn't work for money to afford it. I'm sure it would have been much easier with professional help so
I'd always say get it if you can.
I hope I can help others and be helped.
Thanks!
Scott
