Ciao,
I need some information. My mother was prescribed with actonel. (She is 56 and ending menopause) Is this good for her? Does actonel has any side effects?

Hey,
Actonel is a medication (prescription) to treat and prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis. I guess actonel was prescripted by her doctor. Actonel is usually prescripted if patient has problems with the fracture of bones (witch is common after menopause). I also recommend calcium (but sometimes calcium is not enough, that is way doctors prescribe actonel).
Actonel has some side effects and patients shouldn’t take actonel if they have low blood calcium, severe kidney disease, or cannot sit or stand for 30 minutes.
Sometimes people that take actonel have problems with painful swallowing, chest pain or severe or continuing heartburn (signs of serious upper digestive problems).
Side effects may include back or joint pain, stomach pain, constipation, but side effects are usually mild. Your mother should carefully follow dosing instructions an I think everything will be just fine.
