A few weeks ago my husband suddenly developed back pain and it spread to the abdomen on the left side. The next thing I knew he was in extreme pain and ended up throwing up a few hours later. The pain went away a few hours after this. Then I took him to the doctor and the doctor told him to get an abdominal survey and a blood test. He took the latter the very same day. On our way home he started feeling pain again. Finally we went to the emergency room, where he underwent an X-ray, ultrasound and a CAT Scan. The CAT scan revealed he had a large kidney stone in his left kidney and had a very high white blood count. He ended up getting the stent because the kidney stone was blocking passage of urine between the left and the bladder. The following week the stone was blasted with a laser and the stent was removed. A new one was put in to preclude swelling of the kidney. The other stent was removed yesterday and he was perfectly fine the whole day. The today he woke with the same pain again except that he was able to go to the bathroom (urinate) and was able to use the computer. I'm not sure if this is a side effect of the stent being removed or it is something else. He took a painkiller and he is fine now but I'm just worried of what will happen if this occurs again.
