Recently I heard that my friend’s child has otitis media. I didn’t know what it is exactly and I tried to inform myself about that. I found that antihistamines or decongestants and also the combination of these two kinds of drugs may be useful for this illness. But then I heard that it’s not a truth. Tell me something about antihistamines vs decongestants for treating otitis media?

Otitis media (or glue ear) is inflammation of the middle ear and children below the age of seven years are much more prone to it. As I know, treatment of otitis media is controversial. Many doctors think that antibiotics are the best solution. But I’m sure that antihistamines, decongestants or a combination of antihistamines and decongestants are not useful for otitis media.
