You seem to be saying that you have been feeling ill since you got a copper IUD? I had mine fitted 5 years ago. I had my first anxiety attack a couple of months later, and have been having them regularly since! I noticed this!

I'm having mine taken out in a few days. I will let you know how I get on.

I did a google search about hair loss after stopping bcp and stumbled upon this site. I have taken different bcp off and on for 15 years. I started taking Yasmin about a year ago. This past December and January, I stopped. I had SEVERE anxiety, nightmares and major insomnia. I decided that maybe it was PMS and started the Yaz again in March. My sleep got better so did the anxiety and other symptoms. I stopped the Yaz in April as my dermatologist recommended because it can make melasma worse. This is when I noticed the hair loss! Major hair loss and my insomnia is back as well as anxiety. However, it is not nearly as bad as it was when I stopped taking it before. Its been almost 3 weeks and the only side effects I continue to experience are hair loss and insomnia. I didn't even THINK about all of this until I read some of the other posts!! It all makes sense now and I will not be taking bcp ever again!!! I used it to regulate my cycle and I will take a longer period over this c**p anyday!!

I am soo relieved as well, because I have been wondering what was wrong with me. I took yaz for almost a year and stopped taking it 2 1/2 months ago. One day, out of the blue, I started feeling dizzy/nauseous, hot flashes, felt like my heart was beating out of my chest, and shortness of breath. I thought it was just something I ate untill it happened to me on another random day. I've lost my appetite and some days I feel really down and have no motivation to do anything. The anxiety does not happen everyday, thank god, but I am so ready for my hormones to get back on track because this sucks! It's horrible to feel like you are floating and you're going to throw up, and you have to force yourself to eat!
I'm so glad to know I am not alone. How long does it take for this anxiety to go away!?!

I just have to say, I am going through the same thing. I went off the pill 2 weeks ago and had my first major panic attack Saturday night. I can't believe going off the pill is doing this to me! Just remember ladies, this is NOT you, it's just your bodies response to a chemical. Side effects suck, but you can get through it. I was taking yasmine for about 3 years. 8-|

Hi Ladies
Im so glad I found this site! I have been off the pill for a couple of weeks and just like you guys think im going crazy because of the same symptoms! Hair loss and thinning, loss of apetite, anxiety, paranoia about being pregnant and trouble getting a good nights sleep and then sleeping in for too long. The good thing is that iv lost weight and my boobs have shrunk. I was on estelle and I understand now that this is not just me!
The pill has really stuffed me up it seems and I wish there was some kind of site that could explain this to me scientifically. Im about to go on a trip overseas for modelling and I think I will go back on my pill while there so i can stay sane and keep my hair but this wont help my weight.
When I get back im gonna take serious action about this and as some of u suggested get help from a natropath.
Girls its you hormones, not you. The pill is not the answer. I have heard about natural family planning and it has the same success rate as the pill and no artificial hormones.
Thankyou for posting and i will keep reading

I got off of bcp about 2 1/2 years ago and in the past year started experiencing panic attacks and the only thing I can relate it to is that my hormones may be all screwed up. I am so glad I found this forum and will be making an appointment with my OBGYN asap to see if there is anything I can do to straighten this out besides anxiety drugs!! I dont want to get back on the pill because we are trying to start our family.

I am so glad I stumbled upon this site. I honestly thought I was going crazy! I have only been off of Yaz for a week, but my hormones are out of control!! I cry about everything, I have been breaking out really bad and I have been feeling very depressed. Does anyone know about how long it will take for my hormones to balance out again? I am 20 years old and am an extremely healthy person. I only took Yaz for one year. I pray to God this doesn't last more than a month, but I want to hear from someone who has gone through this.

Hi,
I went off of my birth control at the end of June because my husband and I decided to try for baby number 2. Within a couple of weeks, I started having horrible anxiety...so much so that I thought I was dying of some disorder and then possibly had an ulcer, etc. After tons of labs and an ultrasound, I am fine physically but still have the anxiety 2 months later. I hate it. It has gotten better but I have gone through just about every symptom there is (pins and needles, weak legs, trembling arms, blurry vision, etc)....all of which, make you think something else is wrong with you. Luckily I know there isn't but it still doesn't stop the worrying. I finally put 2 and 2 together that maybe this was all related to me going off birth control. I googled it and found tons of people saying they started having anxiety after stopping the pill. Anyway, I had been on estrostep for 8 years prior to having my daughter and was fine. After having her, I was on orth tricyclen until my GP prescribed Loestrin to possibly help with weight loss. That is what I have been taking for the past year, until I stopped.
I started my second period since stopping the pill, today and felt about as much anxiety as I have ever felt. I am guessing from the hormones again. I cannot take it anymore. I have always been the happy go lucky, nothing bothers me, type and I hate feeling like this.
I called my gyno and am going back on the pill. I have not found anything naturally that has fixed the anxiety and I have tried supplements, etc. I will not take medication for anxiety!!!!!! I would rather be on the pill. Anyway, had anxiety after stopping the pill and then start back and it fix the hormones? I am afraid it might not fix them at this point and then I won't know what to do.

I was very comforted to find this forum. I am 28 years old and was on BCP (Levora) for 10 years. I just stopped at the end of May and the first month was fine, but after the second month I had a couple of days where I felt not myself at all, almost depressed, no appetite and with heart palpitations and anxiety. It did not occur to me that this was because of the pill as my doctor didn't tell me these were possible side effects of stopping but I googled my symptoms and found this site and it clicked that there was a connection. I called my GYN to confirm and she told me that the pill has no side effects and that I should take an anti-anxiety medication or go back on the pill! I was shocked. Needless to say, I am pretty convinced this is a result of a decade of being on the pill and now stopping. I spoke to my acupuncturist who said this happens to the majority of women - I am now trying a combination of acupuncture, herbs, muti-vitamin and super-b complex. I think I am starting to feel better. Someone else on this forum mentioned writing a journal which I have done - some days I forget to even write in it, which are the good days! My palpitations and anxiety are getting less, but I still have this feeling of internal tremors/shakes/jitters (although nothing actually tremors/shakes) which I think are part of the anxiety effect. Does anyone else have this? My periods have come but are still irregular.

Heyy everyone, as you all know I wrote in this forum about 8 months ago due to me stopping the pill and getting panic attacks and everything else.
I want to update everyone. I have been off BCP's since then and I am a lot better!!! When I am PMS'n I still get bad anxiety and mood swings, but its getting better month by month. This takes time and the panic attacks from the beginning are hard to get over but it does get better. I have found exercise to help, eating healthy, no caffine, writing in a jounal and staying active really helps. I want all of you to know things do get better. Even tho its almost a year later for me I still have minor set backs (only when I PMS or in stressful situations) you kinda learn how to deal with it. I have yet to go to a OBGYN to see if my hormones are out of wack. When I do, Ill let you guys know.
Email me if you need anything else..

I've been feeling exactly the same for months, even when I was on the pill my anxiety was growing and growing to the point I had to stop taking it. I felt funny for the first few days of not taking the pill but then I stared to feel better. However, I keep going in mood cycles, I'll be fine for 3 days then al of a sudden I'll slip in to depression/anxiety and feel like c**p. How long does all this last can anyone tell me? I'm finding it so hard to focus on my work and feel like this is going on forever and I'll never get out. I was on the pill for 7 months so hopefully my body will pick up from where it left off, it's just my hormones are going crazy! :-(

Has anyone had any luck with chaste berry (vitex). It's supposed to naturally help get your hormones regulated. I went off the pill after 14 years 4 months ago and I'm having severe anxiety with full blown panic attacks, jittery feeling and nervous. My brain is not working right. I'm having my period every 2 1/2 weeks. I'm having a nervous breakdown. I just starting taking chaste berry 3 days ago. Does anyone know if this helps? :'(

What your going through it completely 'normal' (if you can even say that!) I went on and off BC for two years (each stint only lasting about a month or two on BC at a time) Every time I stopped taking it I'd have new problems surface. No sex drive was first, moodiness and mild anxiety after the 2nd time. Finally the last time I was on BC - to avoid getting my flo for my wedding. I had severe panic attacks and depression after I stopped. I thought I was dying, going insane and the I was the saddest I've ever been. It's about a little over a month since I've been off and my panic attacks are almost nonexistent :-) I'm also going to my OBGYN to have my hormones tested as I still have no sex drive and at my age...that's not normal!

Thank you for responding! Has anyone tried bio-identical hormones for this problem? I'm getting acupuncture, taking herbs and vitamins, etc.. but I had to start on benzo's to get through the day, which I did not want to do. My GYN says he's never heard of anyone having such severe panic attacks and anxiety after going off the pill. What else could it be? I was perfectly fine but I'm 45 and I didn't want to take synthetic hormones anymore. And now, I'm a complete wreck. It makes me want to go back on the pill just to survive. I've made it 4 months so far so I hate to give up now. :'(
