I had my daughter 15 yrs ago and was pushed into an epidural I didnt want. My lower back in the middle feels stiff and I cant stand up properly at first, especially in cold weather. I think its too late to be taken seriously now.

Never in my life have I had back pain. Until I had my son 4 years ago and I had an epidural. Since then, I am in pretty much constant pain. I can't run and play with him like he wants. I can't carry him when he needs me to. For the first 4 months of his life I couldn't even pick him up and I have been a single mother doing it all from day one so having this constant pain is a nightmare. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't get it. I would take 24, even 48 hours straight of labor pain over this any day. It's not the same for everyone, but I don't recommend it at all. There's no way to tell how it will affect you.

I have 4 kids and I had 3 epidurals and my back has been messed up for about 5 years now.......it sucks. I think the 2 I got with me second child is what over did my pain because they put the first one in the wrong spot so they had to redo it........no I don't recommend epidurals personally I live in this pain just about everyday. Some days I don't hurt buti hurt everyday since those epidurals. It still your choice to get one or not.

I am having a terrible back pain through epidural as I did it three times when was giving birth to my daughtershortlist. I think anesthetic and natural is the way. I sometimes limp can't walk properly. And the pain is unbearable as in now I leave with the pain taking painkillers and is not helping.I even consulted unfortunately they can't help me.

I had an epidural with my first two children and didn't have any back pain issues following their deliveries. I had an epidural with my last child in 2014 and every month a few days before and a few days after the start of my menstrual cyle I have excruciating sharp back pain that comes and goes throughout the day. So far it goes away after a few days until my cycle is due to start again.

I am 46 years old with 4 kids....the first 3 were natural births without any medications. The last one I did have an epidural and that was 15 years ago .since then I have had back problems It has only happened 3 times but my back will go out to where I can't sit, bend, walk or stand without excruciating pain...to get from a laying down position I have to roll over onto the floor to get on my knees and then try to stand ..or have someone to pull me up while the tears roll out of my eyes..there is really no warning before it happens and it lasts about 3-5 days...I am SURE it's bc of the epidural!!! I had a coworker that says she experiences the same back pain after she had an epidural!!!! She said sometimes she have to use a bedpan to go to the bathroom bc she is totally bedridden...

It could be from a previous injury. Or the fact that carrying so much extra weight during and after pregnancy caused it. Not to mention your discs start to deteriorate after the age of 30. I have two children and received epidurals with both. Started having back pain not long after my second child was born. Went to see a back dr and found that I have herniated discs and arthritis in my back. Go see a back doctor.

Ive tried researching all evening for answers as to why my back started hurting the way it has all day, and i think i have found just that.. i had my oldest (9) natural no complications, my middle (7) an epidural was administered with no compliations, just a painful long labor.. and well with my almost 2 yr old (22mths) i had an epidural that was not like the previous.. i told the nurses and anesthesiologist that it burned and was uncomfortable, in which he replied "that is normal".. it took several hrs after labor to regain feeling in my legs, to the point during trasfer from delivery to wc i was lifted with 2 nurses that nearly dropped me, same from the wc to my PT bed.. i had delivered my son at 8:30pm and didnt gain feeling in my legs til nearly midnight.. my legs and toes tingled and were weak for nearly a week after discharge.. i did tell my nurses before my discharge and informed my dr of this sensation and also that the spot where my epidural was administered felt like it was still pinching and felt as if the iv was still inside me.. my dr didnt act concerned he actually asked me "did you read the waiver?" and one nurse telling me "if it was still bothering me at my follow up, in 2 weeks, to let my dr know".. well the uncomfortable pain went away in a few days, then i began regaining normal feeling in my legs days after this.. Until today!! I was cleaning house this am and out of nowhere my back began to have this painful, pinching, stinging, feeling right at that epidural spot.. it felt like it did almost 2 yrs ago, with the iv still inside me.. i touched the spot, only to notice my skin is uber sensitive.. my pain went from a 3 to an instant 6.. almost as if my cool finger made it flare worse.. my back seemed only to hurt in this one spot, from about 10 am til around 5pm.. ive taken round the clock pamorin and ibuprofen.. if any sort of pressure was applied, sitting, or if i bent over it would flare back up from a 3 to a 5 maybe 6, even with an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever.. but around 5pm i noticed that pain has now spread to my lower back/hips (both side), and about 1'' above the original epidural.. i know this because i have a little scar on this area, from when the last epidural was inserted.. i couldnt bend over or sit after about 6pm or it made my pain worse, so ive been just resting with a heat pac in bed since 7pm.. walking doesnt seem to irrate it further.. ive been out of bed a couple times, no worsening pain unless i bend or sit.. lying is the best position keeping my pain at a steady 2 or 3.. its now 1am, over 12 hrs of the same sensation and pain, as if something is inserted into my lower back.. if my back pain does not clear up in the am i will be contacting a local chiropractor for maybe some relief, as ive relocated and no longer have access to my previous family dr.. pain is not normal, especially this feeling.. will update my results, soon

I agree with you I had 2 epidurals the 1st one went well it was 6 years ago the 2nd did not go well and it was 3 years ago they missed 10 times after the 4th time I wanted to jump off the table and run away and say never mind I am not having this baby today. They stuck it in again and again moving up my spine. after the 6th time I asked if I could just be put to sleep and they said yes but it would not be good for the baby so I let them keep going at this point everytime they stuck the needle it I felt a burning stabbing pain and could barely sit still tears were coming out of my eyes. after the 10th time they said do you want to try one more time or risk being put to sleep so I said try 1 more time because I was afraid of something happening to my baby after they said it could harm him. they did manage to get it after that but I will never forget that pain it was horrible, Today as I am writing this standing up at the bar in the kitchen I have burning stabbing pain in my spine in about 4 different spots running up the length of it and when I push on the spot it hurts to the touch and I know it is my spine because I can feel the bone of my spine

I agree my first epidural was 17 years ago they didn't place it correctly (apparently it was curved towards my right side) so one side was numb and the other was painful. They removed it and placed another in and proceeded to give me another dose of medication. Before delivery they administered another dose. I was unable to move or lift my legs so two people had to hold them for me to push. They ended up using forceps. My son wasn't breathing at first and thankfully after some oxygen he was fine. I couldn't feed him for the first time due to the severe shaking which I assume was the medication wearing off. At the time I was 16. Six months later I woke up and was unable to get out of bed by myself due to severe back pain and stiffness. They told me it wasn't possible that the epidural caused this but what else could it be? Two years later I gave birth to my daughter and also got an epidural which decreased her heart rate so they told me I would need a c-section and proceeded to give me more medication and tested my stomach with something sharp which I was unable to view. I told the doctor I could feel one side but not the other. He asked how I knew he had even touched the other side. He ended up putting me to sleep. I still to this day have back pain and stiffness and I am told it must be stress or lack of exercise and still no answers to why this problem persists and some doctors even this I am seeking drugs because there is no known cause for these issues. I also have had numbness and tingling in my extremities over the years and it is frustrating when the doctors have no answers. I do hope someone someday exposes the long term damage that can and sometimes does occur with many woman.

This may sound to far fetched. But my son is 27 and I started having pain inmy back and more recent pain in my whole spine. In the past three years my toes and the bottom of my feet are numb in spots. I feel almost certain having an epidural has caused this.

I hope by sharring my information others can feel that their not alone.
