My father is a Vietnam veteran... I too am on the spectrum... I also am high functioning.. and am a disability support worker... I did not even realise I was on the spectrum until I was reading more for my work... I just knew I was different... Anyway... To all of you out there.. There is so much to read and explore... But... Read the book 'nobody nowhere' by Donna Williams ... It may help you to have some understanding of how autism can be... Although every person has their variation... Spectrum or not! Remember.... People are people... Spectrum dwellers or not... High functioning autism is actually quite a gift I think... And believe me when I say... Even people with low functioning autism can break free of many problems... I have helped a few now... It is easy when you understand it from their view point... Anyway ... Best wishes to all

I am an Vietnam vet and have a grandson with autism; at a recent meeting of Vietman Vet with 8 in attendance, 3 had a grandchild with autism and all a disease directly relayed to agent orange exposure. I agree that there seems to be a multi-generational effect from agent orange.

My father was a Vietnam Vet who passed away 14 years ago due to cancer directly caused by his exposure to Agent Orange. I do not seem to have any medical issues directly effected by it. However my son was diagnosed with Autism. It sounds like they believe it was from my wife's side based on some genetic testing they did. But in the back of mind I have always wondered if it was due to Agent Orange.

My brother has autism and my father died of agent Orange lung cancer. Something to consider: why is autism occuring in record numbers, after so many men went to Viet Nam? Coincidence-i think not. Maybe that's why it's suddenly off the charts.

My dad was a vet tested positive for Agent Orange, now has digestive issues and Non-hodjkins lymphoma. I suffer from anxiety, depression, scoliosis and ADD. I have 4 sons all have ADHD, one is Bi-polar type 2, and another has Aspergers! With no family history of any of the above its pretty impossible for me to believe this wasn't caused by agent orange!!! The government needs to wake up!!! With the explosion of Autism in the US it makes sense!

Vietnam veteran, 1970-71, in the Parrot's Beak .... I almost literally swam in Agent Orange before I even knew what it was. Receive 10% for Diabetes Type II and my three year old grandbaby Lucy, daughter of my biological son, has been diagnosed with severe autism. There is no history of either diabetes or autism in any of my extended family. In no way would I be surprised by anything VA (Veterans Adversary) does to screw vets. I also have a 70% PTSD rating that was awarded after 10 years fight, 4 appeals, and hiring of a lawyer ... all of that after my diagnosis and combat relationship was verified by 3 VA psychiatrists and 3 VA psychologists ... each of whom encouraged me to file and pursue this claim. So good luck with the autism!

I am a daughter of a Vietnam vet. I have adenmyosis, scoliosis and was in speech therapy until I was 8. I believe I have autism and struggle socially daily. I'm allergic to eggs, dairy, soy, wheat and turkey! I have one child. He has been diagnosed with autism, scoliosis, mental retardation, mitochondria difency, and has had an episode of auditory hallucinations lasting 5 months! BOTH of my sons grandfathers are Vietnam vets and are being compensated for being exposed to agent orange.

Wow, this is very interesting. My father just passed from agent Orange effects. My son has Trisomy 21, and my nephew has partial Trisomy 18. Vaccines have been to blame for the rise in autism since the 70s, but did anyone do studies on any of these and agent orange?

I have 3 adult children with Autism and other disabilties. Their Dad was on the ground in Agent Orange and all the chemicals. Not one child can work. They can talk after years of therapy. My youngest also has scoliosis. My middle child also has hearing loss and a webbed toe. My oldest is more profound and has mental health disorders, a hunched back, and autism.
Their Dad is getting a type of dementia. He is 71. He doesn't seem to normally feel pain?
He has had only fair health.
