Helloo.
I'm so frustrated I just had the surgery done with the gland excision too. I'm 4 weeks post op and still feel tenser, numbness, sore, weak, depressed bc I just don't know if that was the best option. Have I had any complications or u think its the best thing to do long term?
Appreciate it

Hi am considering removing my bartholin glands as these have inferred my life since 2012. Was wanting to know who is the doctor you saw that removed the glands? Also if you don't mind answering how much did the whole procedure cost you?

I know this post is a year old, but I wanted to write my experience with word catheters. I have had two about 3 years apart on the same gland. The first time my gland swelled up I was terrified to go in, terrified of what it was, and clueless. When I did finally go in it was so big and painful they actually sent me to the hospital and gave me anesthesia. It was a short surgery where they made a small incision and inserted a little straw with a balloon on the end to hold the gland open to insure complete drainage.
The second time I knew exactly what the problem was, I called the dr and went in to have it drained (hot baths and wash cloths didn't work the first time so I didn't bother the second time) to my dismay I was turned away with a new appintment at end of the week because the cyst wasn't big enough! After enduring the growth of my cyst for the remainder of the work week I happily lay down to be cut into, this time wide awake. A little pain from the knife, instant relief, and a little discomfort as the tube was slid in and inflated. The cyst drained and healed nicely without antibiotics.
This time i have noticed that my gland isn't 100% back to normal but then I did get pregnant very shortly after my surgery and i am sure the hormones are partly to blame. I have noticed after sex or when I am aroused that the glands will swell up and not drain like they should, because I am pregnant marsuplization isn't an option and because it's not swelling big enough or staying swollen a word catheter isnt an option. I was told to use a heat pack and that seems to do the trick aiding in the drainage.
I wonder if this is a heritiary medical condition as my grandmother had problems with one of her glands when she was in her 20s at the time they removed her gland and she didn't have problems afterward.

I want sex all the time. I feel no pain when I am in this mind set. My surgery was one week ago. I have been having anal sex instead of vaginal to try to curve my appitite, but I just cant stand the waiting. As long as everything stays clean and there no pain, I should be fine right? I've been searching for an answer, but it seems not many women are feeling as sexually stimulated and willing as me.

I had my left bartholin gland removed in august 2015. It is now November, and I still experience pain a lot. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced throbbing pains 3 months afterwards?

I too have a permanent opening. I'm planning on seeing a different gym because it bothers me to have it and I'm afraid it'll get infected. Mine was created on accident, having healed by secondary intention, so I still have a little bit of the gland left. I wonder how others with this permanent opening look and how common it is.
