Hello, I was so scared to have this procedure after all the horrific information on the internet. I had a cyst the size of a golf ball at the entrance of my vagina. I had no choice but to take a chance with the surgery as couldn't live like that. My operation has been a success. I had the cyst removed and the gland remains. Discomfort and light bleeding for a week then my period. I started walking straight away and light jogging after 10 days. Back having intercourse after 2 weeks. So far all has been great and most importantly I am happy and confident about my body again. Please don't let all the bad reviews put you off as no one ever posts about the success stories. Thanks

Did the marsupialization and it still come back. I just need to get rid of this uncomfortable painful situation. I may consider removing the gland. My life, my sex life are so uncomfortable with bathrolin Cyst. Gosh the pain is unbearable how much more warm water to sit bath? It still not going. I take antibiotic prescribed and it still come back and get irritated in sexual intercourse. Thanks, for my husband understanding and encouragement. Reading the comments helping me a lot emotionally.

Hi you guys!! So I've had the bartholin cysts since I was 18, now 35. I've had it lanced I'm thinking around 5 times. Two word catheters, one in which came out in its own bulb still inflated!!!!!! Needless to say when it came out it tore a vessel and I had to have emergency surgery to stop the bleeding.
I have always thought I was alone in this ordeal, no one I have ever seen or talked to in person has ever hear about it. My last word catheter made a new hope for the cyst to drain on its own. I was able to push on it when it would fill up, and drain the cyst myself. It really wasn't that painful, just made it a little sore. I was able to do this for myself for around 7 years, so it lasted a good while. It didn't take the cyst away, it was always there really. Just sometimes I needed to help it drain. Well for about the last 7 months now, when I would drain it it would have good bright red blood in it. So I went to the dr, (I've had this dr for about 7 years now. He wasn't the one who lanced or placed the word catheter) he looked at it and had no reasoning on why it would be bleeding like that. That he has never seen that it heard of that! So that made me feel wonderful, lol, here I'm thinking I have cancer now. He told me that if I were his wife he would have me get it taken out totally. He has been like the rest of your doctors, and always wanted to wait on removing the gland all together, d/t the blood loss and all the other possible problems. This time he told me it needed to be done.
So I had the surgery, 6 days post op. After surgery it was a nightmare. I either don't handle pain meds well or anesthesia one. Blood pressure dropped, vomiting non stop, had slight bleeding (they said I would). They were going to keep me over night, but towards the end of the day I started to feel better so I went home! Mistake, always stay lol!! I no more got in the car and started vomiting again, felt like I was going to pass out, BP dropped. I just turned the air on and went on home lol! Went to bed when I got there and slept for a little while. Woke up, tried to eat, I think I threw up one more time after the ride home time. Slept most of the night. It was hard to get up and down for the first couple of days. Still kinda hard, and I can't be up long without getting tired and having to lay down. Supposed to go back to work tomorrow, but I've already told my boss idk how long I'm going to be able to make it. I work in dialysis, and you are running around all day long. Very tiring work. Everything seems to be going ok, I'm sore of course. Bruised, and swollen. It's going down I can feel further in my vagina now when I wipe. I've just been laying around and keeping it clean and dry. All I can do is wait around now.
Hope this helps, I know reading all the stories on here has helped me so much. Don't feel so alone now. I will post again here in a few weeks to let you all know how it is going then!!! Keeps you heads up this has to get better!!!

If there is a scar I haven't noticed. It is slightly numb in the area, but not an issue.

Sounds like you had a reaction to the anesthesia. That happened to me once. The surgery was not a big deal. I wish i would have had it removed years ago.

i've had recurring cysts on both sides for the past seven years. i've had two on the right and three on the left.
the right - the first burst on it's own but it was extremely abscessed and very painful. the second time i felt it happening, i found a doctor (my mom's obgyne -- yeah he is older but very experienced) who was able to do marsupialization really well. the cyst hasn't gone back in two years and i haven't felt any pain/cyst at all in there. crossing my fingers it doesn't go back anymore.
the left - I had two marsupializations done on my left and each time i felt the cyst grwoing back after a few months but won't give me hell (like become big) until a year/two later.
however, the third time which was just 10 days ago, the cyst grew to a golf ball in a span of 5 days, my doctor (the same doctor) decided to remove the cyst (not infected) and excise the gland. i was under general anesthesia (which made me throw up the whole day after the surgery) and they performed the surgery for three hours as they had to be careful because the cyst was lodged deep inside between the urethra and rectum areas.
It's been six days since the surgery and i don't feel much pain and the area is not bruised. i try to look for the incision but can't find it. my labia is back to its normal size though. it is still bleeding slightly so i wear a pantyliner but i am very optimistic in my healing and recovery. i think my doctor did a really good job overall. i have another checkup tomorrow and i am now focused on my recovery and healing.
i recommend that you get a really good doctor who knows what he's doing. if it's giving you hell, get the gland removed. it's not worth the pain and the psychological trauma.

I was reading some of these comments. I'm now on second Bartholin Cyst. My first one was drained in 2015 but two weeks later it came back. It was small and squishy. It didn't bother me for a long time. Well this past Tuesday it grew again so I went to the ER. The lady that looked at it said that it was still to small and didn't want to cut it, because she didn't know if she would get it all.
Well I took the meds and sit baths and a warm compress. It was Friday that I gave up I was in tears I couldn't sit on anything without it hurting. So I went to my OBGYN to see if they could remove it. She did. However I think there is some more in there. She does want me to come back in Monday. If there is any I'm sure she will want to cut again.
However she told me that if it does get infected again or another one shows up she thinks I should have the surgery. I'm terrified to have the surgery, excpecialy down there.

Like any surgery, you won't be able to lift anything heavy for a few days. You will walk slowly at first and will need help with your kids for the first couple of days.

Mine was in Florida. Any good Gyn should be able to do it. Just ask if they have done that kind of surgery before.
