I'm only 3.5 months post op from having my gland removed only to find it has already come back. My doctor has done a lot of bartholin gland excisions and never had any come back. Just my luck. he felt confident he had gotten the whole gland. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and went at another go for having the gland removed again? Is it worth it? The first recovery wasn't terrible for me but worried about having it done again. I've already spent a lot of money on this surgery so just debating on if it's worth it and the pain.

They must have not gotten all of it out the first time. Mine did not come back after it was removed .

Thank you so much for the updates. I am hesitant to have the surgery but feel that it may be the best bet. I hope you continue to do well. :)

I too had my gland removed. This is day six And pain is not too bad. Very little bleeding and I came home with zero pain meds, due to the fact I have chronic constipation. Bm's are painful, but tolerable. I too was terrified after reading the posts. My doctor removed the gland and a hard mass. Waiting to hear from pathology. Sometimes you just have to make up your mind and go with it. I have suffered with this for 5 years and need to get on with my life. Glad I had it done. I too had a wonderful uro/gym and traveled several hours out of state to have this procedure done. Do not be scared, it hurts but will not last long. Do your research on your dr.

Hey. If I can help anyone, here is my experience. I didn't even know what a Barthalon glad even was or had ever been educated about them. They are very common! So not knowing why I was getting swollen down there, just figured I was swollen from rough sex.
A couple years go by and this happening once in awhile, turns out that cysts on both sides had became permanent. More painful than I could ever imagine. I couldn't walk for more then 20 min at a time. So I saw specialist after specialist. Know one knew for 8 months what was wrong with me. Untill I met up with a gynecologist from the womens hospital in Vancouver. My left Barthalon cyst was so far inside that know one could identify what was wrong. So I said to this gynecologist, "cut me open! Whatever it is, i want it removed, now. I couldnt live like this anymore. She had figured out what was wrong with me and told me she would do the best she could.
My half hour surgery was 2.5 hrs long. Lots of competitions trying to reach the left cyst, since it was so far back up the gland. She also removed the right side which I have no pain at all on that side. But I have nerve damage on my left side. Just wondering if anyone out there has delt with nerve damage down there from previous surgeries and wondering if it will ever go away? It's been 3 years since my surgery, it has gotten better for sure. It sucks cause every time i get turned on it causes it stings like a lime in a cut.
I've read alot of horror stories and mine was bad but I'd rather deal with the pain I have now then before.

I had the entire gland removed & I agree that the surgery isn't as bad as ppl described in this thread. I took prescription strength Motrin once the day after surgery & haven't needed painkiller after that. I'm 3 days past OP, mild soreness, can walk & no excessive bleeding. Good Luck to everyone having the surgery. And don't be scared!

My gland was not fully removed and my dr did not tell me this until I emailed him telling him it had returned. He even insisted there was no way it had returned. Well, it did. It has been eight years and now I am begging anyone to try again. No one wants to do it. Welcome to hell. Good luck.

I have had two surgeries already, the last was a failed gland removal. He missed a piece and it came back. Over the past several years, it had become a problem again and no one wants to try to remove the rest because I’ve had surgery already. I’ve never enjoyed sex because of this. It has cost me relationships, a job, graduation, a good sex life, and is about to cost me my marriage. I need help. I’d love his/her contact info please!

Thanks got the hope. I’m trying to find a dr who is willing to try again. The first one missed a piece, so I get to have a second excision after the hell of the first. I’m terrified, but I just want this to be over.

Hi! I had bleeding complications and a tremendous amount of fluid coming from the wound for weeks. No drain, not sure why because I needed it. I have to have a re-do of this terrible surgery soon, and my dr plans to insert a drain this time. Anyway, she says that area can be expected to bleed, ooz, etc while healing and it’s not a concern unless infection or hematoma develops.
