Okay, so the topic title is obvious. Is this a bad thing? I mean, I know a guy who thinks a big clitoris is disgusting. I don't mean huge, but.. just big. Does it just have to do with genetics or what?

I'm looking for practical hygeine and health care tips to help my 7 year old foster daughter (soon to be adoptive) who has an enlarged clitoris. She complains of it hurting since it rubs dry in her panties and becomes irritated. How do I help her accept this gift without self-consciousness and ashame? The rest of us females in the family have not been blessed with such a large one.

If it has always been exposed I would think it would have been desensitized before she was even aware of it. I never heard any boys who were circumcised at birth, (thereby forcing their ultra sensitive glans to be permanently exposed to rubbing on their underwear), complain about the sensitivity. It was desensitized long before they were capable of remembering the experience.

Is this a new development? Is her clitoris getting bigger now and just beginning to poke out from under the hood?

I know guys who get adult circumcisions sometimes try to cover it with something to keep it from rubbing. I suppose that takes away the immediate pain but also prolongs the desensitization process. Maybe you could devise something that would cover it to reduce the rubbing.

They make female athletic protectors too, maybe one of those would help. If you Google "female jockstrap" pleny of hits show up.

fostermomma have you tried KY jelly? This may be more convenient than a "jockstrap".

nyjoylife you are completely incorrect. The female anatomy is very different from male anatomy! ESPECIALLY THE CLITORIS. The Clitorus has 16,000 nerve endings...while the head of the penis (Which is MUCH LARGER than a clitorus) has only 8,000 (HALF the amount) nerve endings. A clitorus is NOT the same as a penis. You can not compare an uncovered clitorus to a circumsized/uncovered penis, not by any means. If the tip of my clitorus was exposed it would be very painful just from doing regular everyday movements in my underwear (I know this from the brief moments when my hood is lifted and clit is directly on my underwear....to which I make "an adjustment" by pushing my hood down back over to protect it again immediately). I wouldn't even want to move. If it's uncovered this poor little girl is already experiencing damage before she even reaches sexual maturity to know what it should feel like. Many women who experience rape/rough stimulation to the clitorus "go numb" or only experience pain when they feel stimulation there later in life...in fact there's a lot on that in this forum. Just look up the word clitorus.
