I recently went to the doctor because I thought I had a UTI. I'm with a new partner and I was worried because a few times we didn't use protection. It turned out I had a bladder infection and I was given a treatment of antibiotics. During my antibiotic routine I did not engage in sexual activity, but when my treatment was over and the symptoms were gone, I started having sex again. I decided to email my doctor to ask him what steps I can take to preventing them again, and he told me to refrain from sex at least for 6 months. This is completely crazy to me, and I'm not sure how this will affect my relationship. I want to know if any ladies out there have been given a time estimate when it comes to infections like these. PS: I did email my doctor back today and asked him why I had to wait so long. He said there's a possibility I can get the infection again and transmit it to my partner unless I wait those 6 months.
