In April of 2003, Aron Ralson was hiking through a remote slot canyon in Utah when a half-ton boulder fell, pinning his right hand to the canyon wall. After several days of awaiting a slow death from dehydration, Ralston frees himself by the most drastic measure possible - cutting off his right arm. Most of the book is spent going between events leading up to the accident and a very vivid account of the accident itself. It really is an amazing story, complete with pictures taken by Ralston. I highly recommend this book to anyone - it's a well written account of an incredible situation.
