Schwannoma ( brain tumor), is it cause life risk?

Loading...

Hello magkum,

A schwannoma is a benign tumor of Schwann cells that form a myelin shealth  around axons of the peripheral nervous system.  These shealths are made of fat wrappings that increase signal conduction velocity in the axon.  These tumors are usually solitary and slow growing.  Generally they are nothing to worry about.  The most important thing is that you have been diagnosed correctly.  If you haven't, then there could be a problem.  You might want to get a second oppinion on this one and make sure. Another thing to consider is where your tumor is.  You could have this tumor somewhere in your body or it could involve cranial nerves and that makes a difference.
