So I am an Above the knee amputee and recnetly i tripped and fell directly of the end of my the bone. Now, this has happened before but this time it caused the tip of my bone to break off and got stuck in the tissue. It hurts alot to walk on but I need to be able to get back to school and walking. Does anyone have any advice on how to speed up the recovery? would doing excercises help?

Hi there! I'm quite surprise you can stand the pain and even been writing here! Distal bone femur fracture in amputee or not amputees hurts a lot normally and not only during walking! You've  mentioned that this has  recently happened, how long ago? And something else: you need to go the hospital and let them check you! Sometimes a surgery is not necessary but sometimes yes. I really think you should forget about going back to school and really go to take care of your been. Believe me, you don't want to have complications from not having adequate treatment. Or maybe you already had some kind of treatment but forgot to menytion in your post?Take care!

Hello! Thanks for replying! Oh yes, we'll it just happened as of January 27th, and I have been to a doctor but he wasn't very helpful. He xrayed it, which is how I found out and said I could have surgrey to have the piece taken out or I could wait and see what happens and possibly be fine ether way. He didn't really recommend what I should do for it though. But he did call today and say that it looks like the piece was actually a bone spur that I broke off. So maybe that changes how badly it affects me if left in? I'm just not sure, I have been trying to go to school on crutches for now.
