My son had his jaw broken, went to ER, and had surgery. On one side, they placed a plate, the other they are letting heal without a plate. His jaws are wired shut.

The side with the plate looks normal--no swelling, but the other side is still swollen one week after surgery.

Is this normal? or should we try to see the dr. prior to scheduled visit in 3 more weeks.
