Hi, what you could be having is a reaction to the chemical fire retardent they have used on it.
I take it your arms and elbows are the only parts of your body that have been bare and in direct contact with the couch. :-)

I'm sorry to say I don't think there is other than covering it with loose covers an the chemical they use saturates the foam and covering. :-)
