Calan is prescribed to prevent angina. It reduces high blood pressure, corrects heart beat if is irregular and improves blood flow through the heart. Calan is actually verapamil, drug that belongs to calcium blockers. It relaxes arteries and treats chest pain that occurs in artery spasm. So it has several indications and treats several disorders of cardiovascular system at the same time. Hope that helped.
