I need information about interaction of statins and certain food, like fish and fish oil. As I know, fish oil can help lower cholesterol level in blood. Would it be safe to use both of them? Would the effect be better then? I’m 51, male, am a bit overweight but my cholesterol is elevated. Please post.

As I read, fish oil is even more effective than statins. Fish oil plus statins is quit safe combination. You can eat omega-3 fatty fish and take supplements, but limit daily intake on 2,000mg. Fish oil can reduce inflammation and triglycerides, thwart clots and normalize heart function. So, fish oil can not beat statins, their effect is synergistic.
