Please share your knowledge! I really need to find out quickly what the deal was with alpha-sarcoglycanopathy - I seem to remember that only one gender can develop alpha-sarcoglycanopathy? So which is it? Are girls susceptible to alpha-sarcoglycanopathy? If you know more, please do explain how the genetics work in relation to this disease?

I am a female and I have it. I'm 25 and my sister is 23 and we both have it. I was diagnosed when I was 11 through a biopsy done. You are probably thinking of duchennes muscular dystrophy, that is only common in boys. Alpha-Sarcoglycanopathy is autorecessive. Meaning we both inherited the bad gene from both our mom and dad. I hope this helps. :)
