I am testing for the clinic in 6 days and I am freaking out since I already told my present employer that I am leaving. How mortifying would that be??? "UH, I failed my pre-employment exam. Can I stay?" I also bought some 'synthetic urine' at the local head shop. The owner told me he sells it to alot of people applying at the clinic. I'm nervous about sneaking it in, though because I'm not sure if I will be in a gown?

Perhaps you should limit his internet access too. I knew a girl in high school who had parents like that. You know what happened to her? She went to college, partied too hard, flunked out, got pregnant, never told the father, ended up with a man who beat her and then had his baby too. She used to go to the bar while she was pregnant and play pool and get into fights. Classy. Anyway, this whole world is about getting one up on the next person and you are no different. You are checking out this site so you can figure out how to stay one step ahead of your son. Will you tell him? Will you clear your browser history? Will you go to the store and buy more drug tests because your son can't be trusted to tell the truth? Tobacco is LEGAL. Drug testing is LEGAL. So who is right and who is wrong? Its a big game, and quite an amusing one if you ask me. And I intend to win. I intend to pass my drug test, tell my employer with the crappy benefits and horrible pay to kiss it, go to work at a company that will pay me what I'm worth, put in an honest day's work and go home and have a frickin' cigarette if I feel like it. That's awesome. I was thinking too that maybe after not smoking for a week I might like it and quite for good. SO maybe trying to 'beat the test' can be a blessing in disguise!

I just came back from a pre-employment exam for a major hospital that prides itsself in providing 'world-class care.' Fortunately I had 9 days to quit smoking and I drank as much water as I could. During the exam she told me that my urine was fine. the specimen was collected in a cup with no lid. She did a dip-stick and another test that looked similar to a pregnancy test. Are they still sending it to a lab? From everything I read online, I should be ok. If I hear something different, I will come back and post

Sooo? How did it go? Also, I thought Cleve Clinic did a blood nicotine test, hence the name of this topic 'cotinine test'? So, what's up with the urine? I am assuming for drugs in general, no? In all, they make you do two tests then--one urine for drugs and one blood for nicotine??

I bet by the time your child reaches 18 he will be smoking again if hes not already. Get your facts straight before you start ranting. Scientists have yet to prove lung cancer comes from smoking. I understand where you are coming from. I am a former smoker. I have been nicotine free for three months so far, to make sure that I am safe for my breast reduction. My reason for visiting this site is that I am very concerned about my contact with others who smoke. I am the only one of my friends who isn't smoking, and they have all tried to be very helpful, but I am just scared to death that I am going to not pass this test after all this hard work. I came here looking for information about the length of time nicotine stays in your system, not because I am trying to be sneaky, but because I am truly concerned about my health.
