I myself had 3 epidural injections in my lower back last one in November '14. I was 115 lbs and now I am 125 lbs! I quit smoking in July of '13 and ol gained 5 lbs! I felt like my weight gain was over night! I am working out again but have Bach aches but not like I did when I got my shots! I feel like my legs are 100 lbs when I work out its a weird feeling. I eat very well about 1200 calories a day and I feel like I keep going weight. I'm 40 yrs old but I have always have been in shape! I also got hot flashes all times of the day. But those have slowed down! Thanks for sharing!

Omg! Thank you so much for your post, Petty30! I truly thought I was either going crazy or imagining things. I have only gotten one shot, and I feel like a marshmellow! I used to have nice toned legs, arms and stomach, but after just one week of getting that cortisone shot, I look at least five pounds heavier (I don't know exactly, because I am afraid to weigh myself)! I have increased my workouts and decreased fat and calories but still don't look any better. I feel blah, because I work so hard to maintained an athletic physic :-( It is, however, encouraging to know that things will return to normal in a a few months! Needless to say that I will not be getting another shot

I got a cortisone shot in my knee 3 1/2 months ago and it has really helped my knee.  I could not even walk in to the grocery from the parking lot without pain.  The shot is wearing off and was considering calling for another appointment and have shots in both knees.  This morning I got on the scales and I have put on 3 lbs overnight!  And I have been on Slimfast for over a week!  I usually drop 3-4 lbs when I take the Slimfast for a week.  This is on top of the 2 lbs I noticed a couple days ago.  After reading these posts, I don't want anymore shots but don't want the pain back.  I would rather have knee replacement than the extra weight as I am a little overweight to begin with.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I am scheduled for my first lumbar facet joint injection in a few days and thought I should take a look at some forums because I am very nervous about weight gain. I can't believe what I have been reading. I was nervous to do the shot to begin with because my pain is manageable at this time. After reading hundreds of posts, I have made up my mind. There is no way I'm doing this. If I get back to the point of being totally debilitated then I will have to revisit the idea but for now I think I'll pass.

I have had two shots now due to pinched nerve from bulging disk. no weight gain with first shot. Since second shot, I have gained 15 pounds in 6 weeks. shots every 3 months have been recommended, but I need to find an alternative. I don't want to have to buy all new clothes. Plus I feel very bloated.

I had a cortisone shot a year ago for a heel spur. The shot was so painful I will never get it again. A friend told me to soak my foot (heel) in Apple Cider Vinegar every day. My heel spur is gone no more pain and no more cortisone shots. Try it it works. After 2 weeks pain was gone. Haven't had any more pain for over a year. Home Remedydo work. :) LG

I had 3 years of cortisone injections before I had my right knee replacement. I didn't realize that cortisone caused hair loss my doctor didn't mention the side effects, I figured I was just stressed. So now, 4 years later I started injections in my left knee and notice with the 3 injections my hair is falling out its dry and lifeless. Has anyone had any good luck with other options. I do not want another knee replacement.

I had a cortisone injection in my foot, only yesterday. To be told that I should not experience weight gain, by the consultant!! Since reading this blog, I am really worried now. As I have been trying to lose weight for the last 2 months, very successfully too!! I think that most people here, say they have experienced weight gain. Anyone out there who has not had a problem with weight gain?

I see this is an old post, so hopefully your pain has resolved by now. If not- please try prescription orthodics!! (shoe inserts) I had excruciating heel spur pain- got the inserts & voila! Pain COMPLETELY cured. I stopped wearing them after a couple months & the pain never came back. I am so thankful that my Dr. recommended this completely non-invasive solution.
