I had a stress fracture on my foot and had to get 3-4 cortisone shots. It was the worst decision of my life. I gained 30 lbs and that was with exercise EVERY DAY and some dieting as well. I didn't know it was the cortisone so I got very depressed since I didn't know the reason of my weight gain.
I'm in the US Army and failed the height and weight standards which really hindered my career as a Soldier. So the weight gain affected my career, my health, and self confidence.
After 1 year the weight started to shed and finally (2 1/2 years after) I'm back to normal and still maintain myself very active and eating right. Needles to say, I will never get another cortisone shot again.

I am also concerned about rapidly gaining weight after an injecton in my hip. It helped the pain and allows me to walk again. It doesn't make sense to gain ten lbs when I am actually active again. Now they need to do an epidural in my back. I'm afraid I'm going to turn into a blimp!

You should get your thyroid check... I had all those symptoms when I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.. good luck

I just had a injection into my hip for bursitis as I am a weight watcher I did not realise that this could cause a weight gain I went up 2 kg in one week will this keep going up or when does it slow down I am so upset I am now trying to exercise more which upsets the hip trying to eat less which is not a good practice as I follow a very healthy diet I think I will try something different for anymore pain as the weight gain puts more on your joint anyway

I had cortisone shots in my knees, back, and neck for over 5 years, no bad reactions except when they hut a nerve. I took a predisone pack a few years after, i had a heartattack type of reaction, on the 24th i got a cortisone shot for calcific tendonitis, the pain was bad before but tremendously worse now. I have since suffered from severe depression, bloating, weight gain, excessive gas (farting, excessive pooping, and burping), and my face is fatter. My inition after shot appointment was on December 2nd but with my excessive reactions its rescheduled for 9am today. Im looking at shoulder surgery now, but my hips have been in exteme pain too, waking me up at night. Ive had traumatic back pain after having my first son 15 years ago. Its not as bad now but im only 33 and im afraid its not just my shoulder that will need fixing! Any ideas???

Depressing and I can'tell find out from any one just how long this fat is going to hang on. It's in my stomach, waist, arms and legs. Exercise and dieting just isn'the doing anything to help.

Can't find my post from yesterday. Anyway I got one cortisone injection in my knee in October 2016. I gained weight. Mostly in my thighs where I carry most of my weight. My pants would get very tight on my legs like rubber bands sometimes. That's when I realized that I have eaten too much sodium. Anyway I finally understand how this poison works on the body. For someone like me who has NEVER had a water retention problem, I do now. So what I have to do is eliminate salt from my body completely and drink a lot of water. I already know it will take about a year for my body to get back to the way it was. Meanwhile I will continue to exercise and eat healthy. No Sugar, Salt or Carbs. The injection did eliminate the pain in my knee which enables me to go to the gym. Looking forward to October 2017 the anniversary that I allowed myself to get poisoned with this drug. Never again. The Doctors Lied...!
