Since my teenage years I have experienced impaired vision, hearing, and touch sensation usually at night while lying in bed. In the first years there was no apparent trigger. In more recent years I have noticed increased stress triggers these episodes. I've only experienced this once during the day while in a high school classroom. All other episodes occured at night. Getting up to stretch and drinking a glass of orange juice seems to make the symtoms disappear. This only happens once/twice a month at most.

The symtoms are very bizare. The episodes used to scare me. Now I'm just used to them. They can last from 5 minutes to 10 minutes. I've never let the symtoms prolong more than 10 minutes before treating them with a glass of orange juice and a few stretches.

You mentioned that your neurological symptoms appeared when you were lying in bed in a horizontal position, and that your symptoms disappeared when you got up into a vertical position. When you were vertical, the force of gravity pulled your blood towards your feet, thus greatly reducing your cerebral vascular pressure. When you were lying in a horizontal position, the force of gravity is spread over your entire body, resulting in an increase in cerebral vascular pressure. The acts of stretching out and drinking a glass of orange juice also helped redirect your blood away from your brain. This leads me to suspect that you may have undiagnosed unruptured cerebral aneurysm, possibly as a result of congenital weakness in the arterial walls in your brain. You can go to www.brainaneurysm.com for more information. You need to bring this to your doctor's attention as soon as possible.

Thanks for your input. I've talked to my doctor's about this and they shrugged it off as unlikely. No tests. Thankyou for the website. It was very interesting.
