Ive been scheduled for a Cervical Fusion 3 ...I was told i had Cervical Instability,,I had a horse fall in my 30s,im now 54...i have had problems with neck at times,,and back,,headaches,,stiff neck.. Started getting electrical spasm feeling in left arm,,radiates to hand and shoulder,,nothing major,,no major pain,,,

I had an xray and mri...the flexion showed instability..and concern..with my dr..who sent me straight to a neurosurgeon...

the instability is C2-C3, C3-C4,,and a lesser degree at C4-C5.   with the flexion  there is  2.4 anterior subluxation of C2 on C3 and 3.7 mm anterior subluxation of C3-C4. More readings,,but Im scheduled for a fusion ,,and im not sure if i should have it...because of the iinstability,,,

Im trusting these drs.  Should i have a second opinion...

If you felt the need to ask, then YES! Trust your own instincts! Not what the doctor says!! Please learn to listen to your body! Research negative side effects of the surgery yourself! This is your life, take it into your hands! Try a less severe approach, like physical therapy, or a TENS machine first. Most importantly, listen to your body, listen to your own intuition, as it is there specifically for your own body and your benefit. Tune into that. If your gut feeling led you here, I have a feeling you know what the answer already is.
