I am 28 years old and slim. The pain started two days back. Since then I am unable to sleep on my right side, which is my usual posture. Deep breaths also mildly result in pains under the left breast.

Does anyone got to know what caused this?

Pleurisy causes pains like these. Lining off the lungs inflamed and rubbing in certain positions or during deep breaths. It can be cause by many things infection, immune condition, environmental irritants, etc.

I have a similar situation except my shooting pain only happens when I lay on my left side. The pain is in my upper left chest and the pain makes it impossible to lay on that side and difficult to breathe because of the pain. Laying on the right side hurts but not as much as the left. As soon as I am on my back the pain stops. I am 36 female 125 pounds and about 2 months pregnant

I have experienced pain in my chest on the left side, when I lay on my right side. The pain is a sharp pain, but the intensity last briefly. Later, I realize when I sit up, the pain is somewhat mild. I am over 50 years old with high blood pressure. Recently, I found that I accidently was taking two kinds of high blood pressure. One kind is spironolactone and the other is Lisinopril, they both are for high blood pressure, but targets different things. Spironolactone is a water pill and Lisinopril. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor. ACE stands for angiotensin converting enzyme. Lisinopril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) or congestive heart failure. It is also used to improve survival after a heart attack.

I'm not sure, but I think that this maybe the cause of my chest pain. I was supposed to be taking the water pill, but I found myself taking spironolactone one day and lisinopril the next day. So, one day the fluid will be drained from my body, because of the water pill. The next day lisinopril will be treating hypertension or congestive heart failure.

Has anyone has every have this problem? If so, did you have chest pains on your left side when you lay on your right side? I have not been to the doctor, but I can't help but wonder if I am receiving warning signs for a heart attack, so today I am going to the doctor.

Here is a possible reason as to the pain everyone is feeling. When you lay on your right side it’s easier on your body because your stomach is in a better position to hold in the stomach acid. When you lay on your left your stomach is now able to secrete acid if the sphincter is loose and fluid is able to come out. I myself have a stomach ulcer and when I lay on my left the juices in my stomach are able to touch the ulcer which cause an instant pain, as a result I sleep on my right as much as possible.
