Hello! I am a young female teenager and for about two days I've been having a dull pain in my sternum area, mostly on about the right side is. However, it never hurts on its own; only when I breathe deeply or am lying down and start to sit up does it hurt. It also doesn't hurt on contact, such as when I poke at it with my fingers. I haven't been having any other chest pain and my heart and pulse rate seem to be fine. The pain seems to come from the actual bone rather than anything else. I'm thinking that it might be a calcium deposit, but I have one in my mouth and that one doesn't hurt at all. I would like a popular diagnosis before I panic and run to the doctor's office. Please help!

I'm experiencing the exact same symptoms...and it started yesterday... It's been driving me crazy all day... I'm a very casual smoker, and only the last 3 years...and I'm 24 years old, so it seems very unlikely that it would be a problem caused by smoking...
Have you had any luck in finding out what your problem was?

I have been having the same pains when I breathe or walk! I'm not sure if its appendicitis for me tho, I have been feeling nauseous and its like a tugging feeling there but it usually only is when I walk or breathe. D: But no other symptoms yet, I've also been really sleepy but it might be because I just got 3 vaccines yesterday

I'm a 25 yo male, I also have been having these pains on the left side of my chest which worries me, it does not hurt when I breath deep but it only occurs when i sit up and feels tight. I also had poked at it quite often to try and c if its sore but had the same result as u, no pain. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the connective tissues of the muscle fibers, not sure tho. This has been going on for 3 weeks but is getting better. I've been trying to get up not using those muscles do to it only hurting while sitting up, I'm in good health besides smoking I'm not overweight or anything and avg height.
