I have been having very similar symptoms as you, including the pins and needle feelings. Almost 2 years ago I was put on an antibiotic for pneumonia. This drug has ruined my life. Chronic tendonitis and peripheral neuropathy(pins and needle and electric shocks). Check with you MD. The class of drugs known for acute/chronic tendonitis are quinolones or fluoroquinolones like Cipro. The drug I took was Avelox. My life is a painful one. Knee pain dies down, shoulder, back, wrist, ankles or hands start. I pray you will find some relief somewhere, but tell your doctor exactly how you are feeling.

UGH! I've been having all the same symptoms minus the rash. Over the past few years I've been diagnosed with tendonitis in feet, elbows, both shoulders, hand, ankle, etc. Every time they say "overuse." But the past 6 months I've had 2 episodes where all the areas started to hurt at once, though I was not doing anything that would exacerbate some of the areas. I've been tested for inflammatory markers and auto-immune diseases (though not Lyme disease)- all negative.
While I am in my early 40's and have an extensive history of extreme exercise, these flare ups do not correspond with what I'm doing. My right shoulder has not healed in 6 months. I am very limited in the types of exercise I can now do, whereas 6 months ago I was practicing a rigorous form of self-defense, running and doing hot yoga. Now I'm luck if I can run a few miles. Hot yoga causes my shoulder pain for weeks and forget about my self-defense.
I am incredibly frustrated. Phy. therapy hasn't helped, acupuncture sometimes provides temporary relief but nothing permanent. I've tried all kinds of supplements, avoid wheat (which does makes things worse for me), and try to limit sugar intake (not very successfully).
This is totally interfering with my enjoyment of life and the dismissive attitude I encounter from doctors is really depressing.
I wish the Original poster would post what she discovered.

i believe taking antiinflamatories is not the right solution but leaving your body give its battle.. i belive you must have taken any quinolone antibiotic even months before the first symptoms..just like i did..no doctor believed me but having symptoms like yours i found out that cipro antibiotic can cause them..i believe this is my case. by the way its not tendonitis its tendinopathy and i belive it's degradation of the tendons. Try magnesium supplements thats what i've been doing. hope you get better and out of this nightmare

Hi, I am a 26 year old female. I am glad to have found this forum as it is nice to know that I am not the only person suffering from this problem. However it would be nice to know what it is!!!
I have gone gluten free which manages some of the muscle pain but I continue to have recurrent tendonitis in my wrists, thumbs, ankles, shoulders. I avoid NSAIDs as I get severe reflux. I have had bursitis in my hip as well.
I have had cortisone injections in my right wrist and my hip as a last resort.
I was extremely active but now have basically hit an all time low. I used to swim but now can't even manage to do that as I pull my muscles so easily. I am always tight and sore no matter what I do.
Please....PLEASE! I don't know what to do but I cannot imagine that I have to live like this the rest of my life. I step out of a car and sprain my ankle.
Any ideas?

I have not found anything out, other than my symptoms are similar to those of fibromyalgia. However, unlike fibromyalgia, I do not have the specific "tender spots," and I exercise a lot, which apparently fibromyalgia sufferers do not.
Interestingly, I started taking melatonin a month or so ago, which had not helped my sleep in the past, but now does, and since I've been on it, many of my painful areas have improved, though I'm not necessarily getting more sleep.
I have no idea is there is a link between the improvement in pain and the melatonin. But nothing else has really changed.
I do know that wheat exacerbates my issues, and so avoid it as much as possible.
I have started doing pushups and running again, and so far have not had lasting tendon pain, which is really something. I will continue to monitor myself and see what happens.

In my case it was all a mind thing. I am not saying you imagine it, any pain is very real, but it all originated from repressed emotions. The mind is a master at outing (unconscious) inner stress through your body.
search for TMS and see if you recognize your self in it.

Have you been checked for Vitamin D deficiency?
Three days ago I saw an endocrinologist who is working me up for a host of issues to "get the bottom" of my issues (all of which you described above; tendonitis, severe reflux, bursitits, easily pulled muscles, always sore...). I've also surgeries on both hands for trigger fingers and recently tore my achilles' tendon doing nothing more than walking/light jogging. My test results showed that my Vitamin D levels are severely deficient at 13 ("normal" ranges are 30-80). The doctor said to me, "No wonder you are in so much pain; you have the Vit D levels of a homeless person...basically you have Vit D rickets." Why is still a mystery. He tested for Celiac (gluten intolerance) but it came back normal.
I do have a family history of autoimmune illnesses (sister and aunt have lupus, mom has Primary Biliary Cirrhosis).
I would start by asking to have your Vitamin D checked, and go from there.
