Hi, The last few days I've had abormally light period but then today it was really more painful than usual, and painkillers didn't seem to have any effect. Then I found some tissue flesh like clumps in my period, and I'm a little worried as to what it could be. I'm 21 and I've been on the mini-pill for about a month now (so this would be my first period on the pill). I've taken the pill everyday at the same time, apart from one day when I was a few hours late but then I took it straight away.
At first I thought it was just clots, but it seems to be a lot more flesh like than usual, so then I thought maybe it was just the hormones from the pill affecting me, and it was just thicker bits of the uterus lining. Then after reading around people have said it could be a miscarriage.
However a few days before because my period was a little late (which I know can be caused by the mini pill, but I thought I'd be double sure) I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. So that means, it's really not likely to be a miscarriage right?
I'm just worried.

Hi Jade: IF it was a miscarriage - thus the "flesh" - believe me hon, you would be FAR along with your pregnancy. About 8 weeks along. It sounds like you have lost a LOT of your uterine lining, keeping in mind that blood clots from the lining can be VERY thick and look like flesh!! This will cause MAJOR pain! When I had my periods I was diagnosed with dysmenorhea! And that was worse when I passed MASSIVE clots. So just be careful of these OK? With a regular period you only loose a couple of tablesppons of blood, but with clots it can be LARGE amounts of blood loss, that sometime requires a blood transfusion. So keep an eye on it, most of the time on new pills it takes upto 3 months for them to balance out. BUT if these clots keeps happening, then I would suggest you changing the pill. Good luck and health.
