Hi i'm 19 years old, a couple of days ago i came off my period and i was still bleeding at first i didn't think nothing of it and thought that i was still on. The day after I'd stopped bleeding and me and my fella had unprotected sex we realized that i was bleeding heavy and its never happened before, i phoned my sister to ask for advise and she said it could be a miscarriage. I have been getting period like pains and blood clots on my pad. I took a p/g test and it came up negative. i don't know if this is normal or if i'm having a miscarriage. Can someone help me please.

Hi Miss,

See your doctor.  It is possible that you are having a miscarriage.  They are more common than most women realize and early on often appear as nothing more than a heavy period.

A pregnancy test may not work as it is likely very early.

Hope it helps.  Good luck.

I had a miscarriage in 2009 but it was a late one-1 week till I was 3 months. I had period pains and blood clots. I took a test a couple days after that started and it came up negative. The more you move around, the faster everything will work it's way out of ur body. I had clots as well and it grossed me out. You can get a d&c which I didn't do. Wish I would have now cuz ever since then every time I get my period, it makes me think back to that. I had complications with my miscarriage-bled longer than I was pregnant. Had to get a pill to make me stop bleeding. You should go to your obgyn ASAP.

Hi Curious01
I went to the doc's today and explained to him the worries, that i might be miscarrying. He didn't do any tests or anything, i thought that it was a bit strange but all he asked about was my periods for the past month or so. And he sent me away and told me to do a p/g test in a week if it came up positive then i miscarried but if it came up negative then i wasn't preg at all. Should i go and see another doc or listen to my doctor. ??

Listen to your doctor.

You did say you had a period then the bleeding started afterwards. Did the period appear "normal" for you, before the extra bleeding occurred that is?

My period seemed normal just a day short of what it normally is.

I tend to think your doctor believes that you were not pregnant. After rereading your post I agree with them.

With a normal period, it is unlikely that you were pregnant - not impossible, just unlikely. You can have some bleeding if pregnant but it will appear different. During your normal period the lining of the uterus is shed. If you were pregnant, you wouldn't be afterwards.

The bleeding afterwards can be caused by a number of things including polyps. If it continues you'll need to see your doctor for an exam.

Good luck.

And what is Polyps ??
I've never heard of it before :/

It's a non-cancerous growth. You may have some or a cyst that could explain the bleeding.

Your ob/gyn would need to do an exam.
