The same thing just happened to me tonight. It was attached to my tampon though and it looked to be ripped in half. It completely creeped me out and scared me. Have you had any feedback about what it coud be?

This happens to me often when I have heavy periods. I've been told it's just uterine lining and is completely normal

Well this could also mean an early miscarriage. If you had unprotected sex and you got pregnant, you might have had this. I know that this is scary, but if you are worried the best thing would be to go to doctor and check your self out. Usually there are no complications when this happens, but just to be safe.
