This is very helpful! I think that the best way to be safe is to define sex as anything that would pass an STD along, and that way you can be honest with your partner and that way they also know the risk they might be running if they sleep with you. What does everyone else think?

This is a great definition of something that would be "sexually dangerous"(anything that could pass on an STD) but as far as the definition of strait sex as the author explained the root word sexus from the greek would be more of anything that would have to do with actions that relate to sexuality. I could finger my girlfriend and never get an STD from her (or vice-versa) but that is still considered sex. even if it's labeled as manual sex or anything else it's still sex and can be safe.

I'm not sure if fingering would actually be considered sex, although I guess you do have a point that there's context there. I do know that it is not common but you can actually give someone herpes from fingering, only if you have herpetic sore. I guess that would count as sex? What do you think?
