Hi Goldeen,
Im 24 yers old and for about the past 2 years or so ive been having funky periods.. first i started skiping periods, i would skip about 3 months with no periods or spoting, then all of a suden i started with abnormal bleeding.. seemes like im on my period all the time, I get big clogs and i have heavy bleeding. I got so tiered of it that about a month ago I made a doc appointment for a regular pap and to see whats going on. My pap test came back normal but because i had my period so heavy and for so long Im very anemic and I had to get a blood transfusion to get my red blood cells up, so now im taking Iron supplements. so my doc sent me to do a ultrasound exam to check for cyst and stuff. the results with that was It showed I have a thick uterous lining. I dont have any kids ive never been pregnant so I started on yasmin BC pills to help with the heavy bleeding. Now im scheduled to go get a Indomitrial Biopsy to see why the Thick Uterous lining... im pretty scared to see the results of that but im trying to think positive. Even though its scary not knowing why your period is abnormal you need find out and know what could be causing it, even though finding out whats wrong could be scarier but you have your mind settled down and not thinking all over the place.

Hi Sady,
Yes it can be scary not knowing why you are bleeding constantly. I too bled for three months, doctor did changed my birth control but it did not help. He then ordered a transvaginal ultrasound ( which was disgusting to me b/c I bled through the ultrasound) but found fibroids. And a thick uterus lining. Well I ended up getting an Endometrial ablation, D&C, and hysteroscopy. Doc thinks that what caused my lining to be thick is an imbalance between estogen and progesterone ,I have been taking low dosage birth control for 8 years. Hysteroscopy showed negative results. Now when my period comes I only bleed two days. Please ask questions. After all it is better to know than not to know what is wrong with you. Good Luck! :-)

Hi, my name is Holly and I have been having an almost constant period since the day after easter (march 24, 2008) I only read the first page, and the last 2, and it seems like anyone who has tried to get help for this, their drs have not been very helpful. I only noticed one person who had this problem due to the depo shot. anyone else???
I had my daughter in november 2006, after the lochia went away, I started using ortho tri cyclen lo, but I couldn't take it at the same time everyday and sometimes forgot, so went for an option which would only require me to medicate every 3 months, the depo shot. I had three doses, and only spotted 3 times during those 9 months. I am bipolar and was never right in the head while on birth control, and when I got the injections, i was like a crazy mad lady, so decided to stop (without talking to my dr...i'm an id**t) I waited 2 months, never got my period, so I went and spoke to my dr/nurse practitioner, who told me i'm an id**t for not using birth control, but who needs it when you're not having sex, right? anyway, she told me that the nuva ring may be better because of less horomones being released into the body. Well...that was uncomfortable as hell, and I was constantly depressed and having anxiety attacks. I left my job because I kept kirking out on other employees when they said the slightest sarcastic thing, and I lost my insurance, so no BC. The only thing good about the nuva ring was that i got my period finally after 3 months of being off of the depo shot. Bad news, it hasnt stopped. I've gone maybe a max of 4 days in a row without my period. Sometimes it's heavy as hell where I have to wear a super tampon and pad, and change both after a few hours, or so light that I think it's done, so I take off my pad, and WHOOPS! there it is. And today I had clots.
I think it may be a horomone inbalance because I've switched BCs so much, but I'm also pretty afraid because I've also been having sometimes severe abdominal pain, and when it's not too bad, it's a lot of pressure. Also, a few months ago, I kept fainting, usually on the day that I started again (so like once or twice a week) One night I fainted and had a really hard time coming to. The next day I went to the hospital because I couldnt stand up, I told them about my period issue (at that time it had been about 7 weeks) and they did a pregnancy test, that came back negative, said they did other bloodwork, but everything came back ok, did a chest xray, and sent me home with anxiety. I followed up with my pcp 2 days later, and told her about my period, and she said that was no big deal, and said my fainting spells were probably because of low blood pressure, but my blood pressure was fine. I also had gestational diabetes with my daughter, and if you have gestational diabetes when you're pregnant, you're more likely to get regular diabetes, but she said i didn't "fit the profile" because I'm so young (23) and i'm skinny.
I've looked up the vaginal bleeding a few times, and so has my husband, and it looks like it could be any number of things.
I have a drs appointment on wednesday, so i'll post if I find out anything, but if anyone else has gotten an answer and a result, please let me know. I'm just so glad to know i'm not the only one, but I'm surprised that no one has gotten a satisfactory answer.

Go to a reproductive endocrinologist. I have the same thing and will be going tomorrow. It may be thyroid related or other. My friend went and she found out she has poly cyctic ovarian syndrome. She wasn't bleeding constantly but I am. She was so confident with her doctor. She ended up losing 50 lbs and has her life back. You are not alone in this. I have been to many doctors over the past 4 years. Including a regular endocrinologist. Now I feel confident in my decision to go the the repro. endocrinologist. I will let you all know what he says.

All the women with constant bleeding. Please insist that your doctor schedule a D&C to see if you have fibroids and/or endometriosis. Both will cause constant bleeding and the endometriosis would possibly cause abdominal and low back pain as well.

Hi, Well...I had my appointment on 7/2. My dr. said that I have Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding, and that BC should help. So today will be day five of birth control, and I haven't bled since Friday. This seems to be the answer - for me. I have a recheck/annual exam appointment set up for 8/13, but so far, I'm satisfied. My emotions are on a little bit of an overdrive since I started the BC, but that may just be coincidental, seeing as how i'm bipolar and choose to be unmedicated. Hopefully I'll stay period free until my week off, but we'll see. I'll keep you updated.

Hi Maholifer,
I am glad that you found out the reason why you were bleeding. I wish you success.

Hi, it's nice to see that I'm not the only one dealing with this. I'm 28 and I have had these problems since my very first period! My mother took me to see a doctor and they started me on BC. That worked fine for 5 years but then I married my husband and stopped them because we wanted to have kids. Again, the baddness started. I don't know how much longer I can take this but I don't want to start BC again because we still want to have kids.

Haven't any of you ladies had an ultrasound to check for polyps? I had very heavy periods and the doctor found a small polyp that he removed. Mine was very small...larger ones would certainly make you bleed continually!

Wow this sounds very familiar I have always had my period irregular just like you. I 'm 29 years of age though and I however though started my period in the beggining of April and I'm still bleeding. I did go to the doctor back in the the begining of June. They told me I was pregnant. I had a misscarage and I they really didn't do much for me but do some tests take some blood. They say that I ofcourse need to do a follow up but haven't got an appointment. To sum it up they don't know what's wrong, or what I can do. So I have to say, that it's kind of releaving to here of someone that's going through something like this, as scary as it is. But I do think you need to see a doctor. Good Luck!!!

That saddest thing about most of these postings is that so many of us cannot seek proper examination or treatment because of insurance costs!!! It furstrates me so much that we live in a country that makes it so difficult for us to get access to proper health care at reasonable costs. Have any of you watched SICKO?
I too have had constant bleeding for 8 months now! I'm 26 years old, I haven't been sexually active for about a year, I have never been on birth control (except once during my sophmore year of college but never tried it again because I disliked the side affects), I'm not overweith, I run 3-4 miles 4-5 times a week, I don't feel fatigue, I've been tested for STD's and everything was negative. I won't have health insurance for another month and will visit a doctor as soon as I do and make sure to post any results. From the various postings here I only found one or two suggesting a natural remedy. Has anyone else natural remedies that have regulated bleeding?

Here goes my rant story...
I think I've had mine for longer than all you girls. yeah yeah, i know i should of checked it and so forth.. but the girl above me is right, it is also due to affordability to go check in with the doc. I've checked it out once.. when i was 18, now i'm 22. I did a pap smear and it came back negative.
My bleeding constantly started when I was about 14 or 15, very shortly after my dad passed away. I've also did research that diet is a problem, too much excercise, and also stress. But I've tried not to have stress in my life, so far I don't think I get stressed at all.
Now I've read in here that some of you are overweight, but I think I'm slightly underweight. I'm 5'4'' and my weight is always never consistent. I have very high metabolism and I hate it. I'm Asian. I wish most of these girls would of posted these kind of info, so I could at least get some statistics and kinda see where i'm at. No racial issues. Although I don't really think that this bleeding thing discriminates.
Once, my mom and my aunt did find some of these Asian herbal that I took and supposedly was an expensive type of herbal medicine (dunno what its called). It made my bleeding stop and i felt normal for the longest time in my life which only kept me not bleeding for about a month and a half... and damn it felt long.. it felt good to not use a darn pad.
SO, as soon as I save up I'm going to go in for an ultrasound or whatever, but thats what I've been saying for the past years. Doctors never seem to have a big concern about it.. I think this trend is more familiar to them than we all know. IF I ever do go in and get results back, I will definitely come back to update all you... later! and God bless...

i too have been bleeding non-stop for the longest. i can say for about 8 months now. i dont even cramp anymore. as a matter of fact i even have been passing soft ball size blood clots. i just went to the er room and they said that my blood level was a 7 when its supposed to be a 12 or 14 to be normal. they wanted to admit me and give me a transfusion but i wont take the blood. i rather build it back up with the iron pills. the er doctor wanted to see me back in 2 days and that morning was a disaster, i woke up in a pool of blood i messed up my matteress and i messed up my carpet and clothes, etc. by the time i got to the hospital i was pale. they took me right in. the gyno there said that he was gonna try a dnc first to see if that would work. this was a week ago. im now cramping and i am still bleeding. i have an appointment with the same gyno doctor on the 4th of august 2008 and i dont know whats gonna happen. before i left the hospital he said that if the dnc doesnt work then he is gonna try this other procedure where he basically burns the uterus. now mind you i have my tubes tied so i cant have anymore kids anyways. but im gonna stay on this situation because i cant live my life this way. its a good thing that my husband is in iraq at this time but what about when he returns. i mean i feel bad for him, this is not normal and i am gonna get down to the bottom of this. im gonna to everything i can to get answers. but i will keep everyoneposted on what my doctors and specialist come up with.

The Dr perscribed me premarin and I do not want to take it. Dr says its to stop bleeding but I read it is for menopause. I am 35 with four children age 20, 19, 16, and 11 I had an iud for ten years and replaced it six months ago. I have been bleeding for six months now with only a day or two break in which I use the time to have sex with my husband of 22 years then start right back up. I do not know what to do.
