I would check this page out ladies! It really offers a lot of info. I've personally had this problem off and on. My doctor diagnosed PCOS, but this link offers a lot of other possibilities as well.

I read this board daily, looking for answers myself. I'm 43 and I've been bleeding for 8 months now. I'm a big girl that was diagnosed with PCOS about 25 years ago. Up until my husband of 27 years asked me for a divorce, I was fine, but since then I haven't stopped bleeding. I've been to three doctors and the ER. The last doctor I went to she completely disregarded the bleeding and attributed my shortness of breath, dizziness and general fatigue as being overweight and suggested I have Gastric Bypass surgery. I tried to keep my temper and told her that not only was I a vegan but that before the bleeding started I walked two miles a day (22 minute miles). The ER doctor suggested weight loss (of course). Neither doctor gave me anything for the bleeding other than Naproxen for the cramps. I wear three pads and generally bleed through. My daughter gave me her BC pills (Nor-QD) and I've been taking them for four days now. The bleeding is just as heavy. I too am just disgusted by the lack of medical responsibility or concern for this. You can bet if I was a guy whose "junk" didn't work, the docs would be falling over themselves to fix it, but it's certainly okay for my quality of life to be affected by 8 months of continuous bleeding. I've had an ultrasound, 2mm thick endrometrium with no polyps or masses. I'm at a complete loss and I hate the thought of yet another doctor (and co payment) only to be told "lose weight". By the by, I have lost over 60lbs in the last year. I want to start my new life over after this divorce, but some days I can hardly leave my bed because I'm flooding so badly. I suppose the answer is just to rip out everything. :)

I'm with you on the whole "overweight" issue. For the love of God I know I'm fat, but you can't tell me that everything from allergies (yes, I had a doctor tell me this) to bleeding like a stuck pig is from being fat. I've been fat for 26 years now. Keep at it, girl.

I have had Extreme extreme menstrual bleeding since I was 15.....it has lasted 6months straight, it will stop for 1 day and continue for another 6 months. I go thru 4 boxes of ultra tampons a week. I was told to go to emergency because this isnt normal. The clots that come with this are enough to fill 1/3 cup sometimes more and the pain that comes with passing them. Im 29 and i would give just about anything to make this stop.....it ruins my life.

Yes. I have been bleeding for six months. I have had every test that come back negative. I also had a DNC. I am still bleeding. I hear you I have been married for six years. My husband has been so patient and kind but I feel guilty.

I would ask your doctor to check for an etopic pregnancy as I bled for 2 months straight to find out I had miscarried. Most times an etopic can't be seen through urine only blood testing

I have been bleeding for 6months now with maybe a day or two break. I'm 30 BTW with 2 children. I had an ultrasound and a transvaginal ultrasound and labs done, ALL negative. I was put on birth control last month and still bleeding. I will be returning to the doctor asap to discuss getting an ablation to stop this bleeding, its the only option for me to stop bleeding. Maybe talk to your doctor as well about the procedure. It's beyond frustrating so I understand.

My Dear friend Anng had constant bleeding for months at a time, then it would stop. She went to the ER because she finally started to get unbearable pain eventually after those symptoms, but they sent her home every single time. She couldn't afford to go anytime she pleased to the doctor, so when she did, it took a lot out of her financially. Long story short, she went to a really good obgyn a friend suggested, he diagnosed her with cervical cancer stage IV. For years she had this issue of bleeding heavily randomly. She just passed away this year. And I don't know if this is your problem... but find a good doctor. One that will check for anything and everything and not one that doesn't take their time helping to find the issue and just throwing medications at ya to send you out the door. It doesn't seem normal to me to be bleeding that long. Good luck with your situation and I hope you figure it out.
