I am 20 years old. When I first started menstruating I was about 11 or 12. For a year or so I had normal regular periods but then they started to go insane. I started to bleed for up to approximately five or six months before having the same amount of time free of blood. A few years ago, probably when I was about 17, I started to bleed almost constantly.
A couple of months ago I went to my doctor and got some birth control pills to try and get the bleeding under control, but it just made it worse and I started to bleed all the time, making everything from walking up the stairs to walking a flat straight path very difficult. I stopped taking the pills when it became obvious they weren't helping and waited for things to calm down again - it didn't. I was still bleeding 24/7.
I went back to the doctors and was put on Tranexamic Acid. I was told that they would calm the bleeding down so that it wasn't so heavy. It did more than that and stopped the bleeding altogether for a month. Unfortunately that month ended a month ago; however I had also been given some Norethisterone pills to take, so I started to take them. They took a few days to work as the doctor said they would, but unlike what the doctor said, they did not stop the bleeding completely, although I was able to work without problems.
Really, to put this simply, all I want to know is what the hell is wrong with me; can I go back to the doctor and ask for more Tranexamic Acid; and can I take Tranexamic Acid every month to stop this hell?
This is really getting me down, what with the heavy constant bleeding and really painful cramps. I just want a normal cycle that I can get on with, or no cycle.
Please help.
