hey everyone, I am planning to do my first marathon on this year. Have a few questions: does anyone know a good conversion chart for shorter race times to marathon times, and from experience what would be the best training program for me. I currently run about 40mpw (building that up to 50 by may) and havent set a goal yet, but would like somewhere in the 3-3:30 range. if I could break 3 that would be heavenly, but I don't want to set an unreachable goal. I'm gonna try a timed mile soon because I haven't done one since last year, and have gotten a bit faster. thanks in advance.

I bought the P & D book, "Advanced Marathoning" and it helped me to learn alot, and I felt really prepared to marathon.

However, I ran my fastest marathon, using the "Runner's World" beginners plan.

So...I don't know. Maybe too much knowledge isn't a good thing.
