okay so my doctor told me not to worry about my vaginal bleeding while on BC. BUT its been almost a week and it hasnt stopped. I have come to the conclusion that this could have just been my period coming out while on BC. my question is, if my period worked its way through the hormones when im not supposed to have it, could that mean my birth control may have failed?

It sounds like you just started taking the pills. If it's any comfort: It is VERY common to have irregular periods, spotting etc., when you start on the pill. This is also common when you discontinue the pill. I wouldn't worry if that's your case. Otherwise, if you don't trust what your doctor is telling you, get a second opinion. It would be a good idea to get a pregnancy test at the doctor's office, if there is a chance that you could be pregnant. This will put your mind at ease. It will also lower your stress level. Stress can contribute to your irregular periods too. Take care, relax, get tested and find a doctor you trust. Let us know how it goes from here.

Hi:
Out of a survey of 2500 women, about 5% reported bleeding with the nuvarings, so it is a reported side affect, however not with many. It is a chemical form of birth control with some of the same hormones as the traditional pill. As a result, you should expect some irregularity. Google nuvaring so that you can see where your symptoms fall on a scale with the rest of the user population. Perhaps that will put your mind at ease. Of course, your ob/gyn would be the best source of info because he/she knows you specific history and body makeup. It sounds like you're ok, but get it confirmed. In addition, get that pregnancy test if there's any possibility that you might be pregnant. Let us know what happens...We're here to support, discuss and advise.

Hi:
What have you learned since your last post? Are you still bleeding? At some point, your bleeding would probably stop, once your system adjusts to the BC. How are you doing now? Did it turn out to be a result of starting on the BC? I hope that things have settled down for you now. Let me know how things worked out for you. This is such a common concern. I'd like to learn from your experience. Let me know.
