What can you tell me about microalbuminuria and diabetic nephropathy? If there are not yet any obvious outward symptoms of diabetic nephropathy, at what point are tests normally conducted by doctors to find out if microalbuminuria has developed in a patient? Would it be safe to say that this is part of routine testing of diabetes patients, or do such tests need to be requested individually? Perhaps on the basis of other signs? If that is so, then what signs or symptoms are looked for in a patient?
