The best way to find out if you are pregnant is to take a test. If you are past your due AF, then there is a chance that you could be pregnant. Again, the only way to find out is to take an HPT. However, many women have irregular cycles a few months after they stopped taking the pill, especially if their cycles were irregular before. Best of luck.

I am glad to finally hear of someone who had abdominal pain symptoms. I have typed in everything possible and see lilttle to nothing on
this topic. I am 30 and, also wanting to get pregnant, discontinued my pills after my last pack. I had been on the pill for about 6 yrs. It
has been 2 weeks since the first day of my last period and I have had almost continual abdominal pain for the last week. I figure it is just
a symptom of withdrawl from the pill. I would describe it as mild discomfort. I will go to the doctor, but I guess I'm just looking for similar
stories so I am not a nervous wreck when I go. Also, I didn't think I could be pregnant yet, because I wouldn't likely be ovulating until
about now.

Just a note to one of the comments...the only thing that determines the sex of the baby is which sperm enters it first...whether it has an x or y chromosome...

One thing that might be contributing to all of our waiting for ovulation/periods to resume (I've been off the pill for 39 days now, after about 2.5 years on, and no period yet) -- the hormones in birth control pills not only prevent ovulation but also decrease the amount and thin the consistency of your uterine lining, which is part of why your "period" on the pill is usually much lighter than your period off it. I wonder if it just takes most women's bodies several months without the hormones to start to build up uterine lining to a normal level each month? Just a thought... vaguely comforting to me to think this might be part of why I had some symptoms of ovulation this past month, but no period and a negative pregnancy test.

I was on birth control for about a month and stopped cuz we decided to have a baby and now I'm not ovulating like normal and we've been trying since ive been off it. All the test say I'm not pregnant but yet I'm not ovulating. Idk what to think could I be pregnant because it's time for my period next week but I didn't know if I would have it since I'm not filly ovulating.

I'm so glad I am not the only one.

I was on the birth control pill for 8 years, and went off last year. My period skipped 1 month, came for 3 months, disappeared for 3 months and then returned, it is very irregular , from 30-40 days apart.. 4 months ago my husband I started trying to have a baby.. I even plot my temperature everyday, hoping to find the "peak" time in my odd cycle. My doctor says he doesn't even know if "m ovulating because my periods are 2-3 days.. and it's really spotting 1 day, kinda red blood the 2nd day and back to brown spotting the 3rd day.. so he says I'm healthy and normal and to "keep trying".. it's been 1 year now since I got off the pill and I think my body finally has more of a 31/32 day cycle, which means I should be ovulating between days 17 and 23... So on we go to Round 5 in 2 weeks to try... when all our friends already have babies and I get more depressed every month..

I also find I am more moody and much more tired than before since getting off the pill.

I was on Yasmin for about 1 & 1/2 to 2 years, taking it straight thru to avoid menstruation. I stopped it almost 2 weeks ago and haven't started a period yet, but my husband and I have also been trying to conceive. I'm not sure if I ovulated and were successful or if my body is trying to reset my cycles. I was always regular before the birth control. I had read a lot of different stuff about stopping birth control and trying to get pregnant right away and the different things you could experience. I think the case must vary for everyone, and the best thing to do is write it all down and go see your ob/gyn. My cousin got pregnant just two weeks after coming off her birth control, so there's no fool proof rule about not ovulating.

so ive been on the Sprintec BC pill for about 7 months, stopped taking it about a month or 2 ago. Im trying to conceive. I had a short period a few days after going off the pill. Could this mean that im back to normal and could i ovulate again and start trying or what? Idk what to do but I wanna get pregnant. Should I start taking some vitamins? Go to my doctor and talk to her about it? I was supposed to have my period a few days ago and havent but I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. my boobs are sensative to the touch and nipples getting darker. but the tests are coming back negative so its obvious im not pregnant i guess. so i need advice. thanks. -caitlyn.

I am happy to find this site. I also am having problems ttc and never thought I would have to say that. I am 34 (35 next month) and have a 5 1/2 year old little girl so I know I can get pregnant, even though that was 6 years ago. I have been on the bcp since I was 17 and got pregnant only 6 weeks after stopping the bcp with my daughter and it has been 13 weeks since stopping this time. I thought with her that I was not ovulating due to having a negative test through a blood draw but a few weeks later I took an otc pregnancy test (right before I started taking provera) and it was positive. I thought this might be happening again but 13 weeks later, only one period after stopping the bcp, negative ovulation tests and no real shift in my bbt i am almost positive I am not ovulating. I have had several symptoms of my body trying to "kick back into gear" such as growing an entire inch in my chest, nausea, some dizziness and very frequent belly pain and cramping but no positive test as of this morning. I am also taking a FDA approved herbal supplement called Fertilaid to try an jump start ovulation. The kicker here may be that I was on Seasonique this last year continuously because I didn't want to be "bothered" with a period and I think I screwed myself. I have an appt with my OB this week and am going to try accupuncture next week to see what they both think I should do. Was anyone else on the pill straight for a year and did not ovulate for a long time? I am tired of hearing, "oh just give it time" and "are you crazy, you have only been trying to 3 months!". I know when my body is out of whack.

Actually, you can have a period without ovulating. I tried to conceive for one and a half years with regular periods between 28-32 days with no luck. It was only when I went to a dermatologist that I found out that I was not ovulating. He could tell just by me having constant acne. I took Clomid and the second month I was pregnant. That was 20 years ago and I have the most wonderful 19 yr old daughter in the world. By the way, she was my second child and I had what they called "secondary infertility". I conceived my first child 4 years earlier without any problems.
