My son has a throat infection. He has white blisters, with swollen glands. He's had body aches, sweating, and pain. He went to the doctor last night. The doctor told him he had a nasty infection. He said you either have strep or staph. He did not run a throat culture. No strep test. He prescribed amoxicillian. I'm worried that if this isn't strep and it's staph, his condition will worsen. Should he go have his throat cultured to find out what this is?

He’s 34. He didn’t have a fever last night. But he said he doesn’t know if he’s running one. He’s sweating profusely! No cough. Swollen gland. Nasceous, but not vomiting. No runny nose.
