Hi,
I am a 16 year old male who is REALLY worried cancer. For the past 2 years I have had a mass that I assume are my left inguinal lymph nodes. I never really thought anything of it until just recently when I started thinking that it could be cancer. The strange thing about the mass is that it completely goes away and then will come back later. It will also sometimes be like one mass and other times feel like 2 or 3 small masses. I have done some research on the topic of lymphoma and from what I have read, harder, more solid masses point directly to cancer. Anyway, I have scheduled a doctor's appointment, but what I want to know is if there are any alternatives as to what the mass could be... Am I 100% certain to have cancer or is there something else that it could be? Also, if I do have cancer, after two years is there still a chance that something can be done about it? Please do respond to this as I am very worried...

Hello pw123.. I also waited two years before investigating a mass or growth in the stomach region.. why I finally went to see the doctor was due to an excruciating back pain around my kidneys, that the lump was pulsating and felt hot to the touch, I was also experiencing unexplained intching [no rash] and constant night sweats. I discovered later that these symptoms are usually or often associated with cancer. [was diagnosed with DLBCL am now in the 2nd of a 5 year remission]. Either way it is excllent that you have made an appointment to see your gp and hopefull he will send you for the relevant tests which will diagnose if it is indeed cancer or not. These tests will involve a CT Scan, blood testing and possibly an Ultrasound, all very necessary in forming a diagnosis. I pray however that your tests will come back negative!
