Hello. I'm 28 year old female and I'm pretty worried for my daughter’s health. She is only 4 and just recently- she was diagnosed with chronic bronchitis. On time she could suffocate and her life was in threat. So, doctor prescribed her some drug called Advair.
He told us that it will not cure her condition, but when used regularly it can open up her air passages and make breathing easier. We were very happy with the results, but one another problem occurred- weight loss. She lost 2 lbs in a month period. Not a lot of weight loss but a lot when you are her size. Please tell me is anybody experienced this and should I take her to see a doctor over this?

First of all, I can't see any reason why you should take your doctor immediately. Doctors are these because of you and I suggest you to this. I can say only that there is probably no serious cause of this body weight loss because it is common side effects when you’re using this drug. Advair is a combination of controller drugs for long-term treatment to prevent or decrease the symptoms of asthma and chronic lung disease such as chronic bronchitis.
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention are diarrhea, stomach upset and stuffy nose. All this can lead to body weight loss and that’s why I don’t think that it could be anything serious.
But, like I said before, I suggest you to contact your health provider anyway and find out the exact cause of her problem.
