I would be careful with the ibuprofen as my OB-GYN has strictly forbidden me to take it during menstrals. Ibuprofen causes a heavy bleeder to bleed more and can lead to complications like hemorrhaging.

The last month, I have been drinking lemon juice and water every day, twice a day. I usually suffer from severe period pain and heavy bleeding, curiously this month I only have light cramping and blood loss is dramatically less.

Drinking lemon water was the only thing I have changed in my diet, and no other lifestyle changes.

I'm sort of excited at the moment but will wait a few more months just to be sure it isn't a one off!

I agree, I am very irregular but anytime I start drinking lime water I'll start to get my period a day or two after, which in my case is a good thing.

Don't worry. You won't have a baby just from starting your period.

Okay I have tried this just last month and another time before that. It works but this month my period cramps feels completely horrible. The first time I did it work no problems what so ever and now it got worst, kinda feels like a uti or yeast infection. Well I did overdue it, I ate 2 whole lemons, that made my period last 3 days. If you try this just be careful and whether or not you are willing to go through the pain.

It is 100% true - this lemon thing. I have been taking a liquid iron supplement which is nasty tasting. One of the suggestions was to mix it with orange juice to dilute the taste. But I don't drink orange juice so I decided to squeeze a good amount of lemon into it every morning when I have it to mask the iron taste. In addition to that, I recently started making fresh vegetable juice every morning and add 1/4 of a big lemon to the juicer. Last month, when I did not take iron with lemon everyday, my period was a few days late and almost no cramps and minimal flow and ended perfectly. This past month I was really good at taking iron+lemon every morning and juice with lemon and I got what I think might be my period a few days late and it is barely there and zero cramps. Usually, it is heavy and painful. I kept thinking that the actual period will start in a few days after what I thought was like spotting. But it looks like it is ending and that will be it. I panicked and started crying (because I am always so regular and don't want to lose that) but once I started looking up this issue I actually feel so much better. It is not an old wives take. I am amazed.

I've been drinking lemon juice for my period for 2 years now on and off, and when I drink lemon juice it shortens the time I have my period by a few days, but it depends on how much you drink. I drink a tall glass of straight lemon juice, usually, but I started with shot glasses.
