when i had my son i was told not to pull back on his foreskin to much when washing it as it was still attached. he is now 11 months old and the skin is still half attached. is this normal or will i have to see a doctor to discuss circumsision

No, he does not need a circumcision. He is completely normal for his age. The average age of first foreskin retraction is 10.4 years. He may be earlier or later. The first person to retract the child's foreskin should be the child himself.

The general rule is "Only clean what is seen." Just wash the outside like washing a finger. It is not necessary to wash inside. Urine, when it exits the penis, is a sterile liquid that does a nice job of keep the foreskin cleaned out.

Washing under the foreskin is not necessary until after puberty.
