I am addicted to eating crushed ice.

I started eating ice about 3-4 years ago. I was pregnant at the time (about 4-5 months along). My best friend worked at a gas station and when I could go to visit her, I would get a cup of ice. This habit slowly progressed to a daily thing - even when she wasn't working, I would get ice. After my daughter was born, I didn't crave ice anymore. In fact, I couldn't stand it. It hurt my teeth and I stopped eating ice for close to a year. I picked this habit up again one summer and haven't stopped since. I work at a hospital and have an endless supply or crushed ice available to me. I will make a trip 3-4 times a day to fill up my 32 ounce cup. I will make special trips at midnight to the gas station to get ice.

I donate blood on a regular basis. My iron levels have ALWAYS been perfect - even while I was pregnant.

It's not so much that I crave ice, but that I crave the texture of the ice. (If that makes sense). I will only go to certain machines in the hospital or certain restaurants/gas stations..

I'm worried about the effects this addiction can have on my body.. Any ideas?
