I just started Birth control (Microgestin Fe 1/20) for the first time. I have remembered to take it every day and within the same 3 hour time span each day. After around a full 7 days on the pill I started having unprotected sex. Is it safe to have unprotected sex considering that I am very new to the pill? And even if I'm on birth control, should my boyfriend still pull out before ejaculation? Also, after 10 days on the pill I have begin to experience irregular bleeding and severe cramping, is this a sign that my birth control is not working?

Hi there, it is safe for you to have sex while you are on the pill but hopefully you have waited long enough for it to kick in. The bleeding and cramping is likely related to being on the pill not that it's not working. How are you doing today since it's been a few days?
