You don't say exactly what you are doing and how you are doing it, nor what sort of pain you feel.
If putting a finger in your vagina hurts, it may be that your hymen is tough. It could be that you are not relaxed and your vagina is tightening.
Try for a time just massaging your clit and between your outer and inner lips.
