Hi everyone,

My start of my last menstrual period arrived 4 days after sex (my partner only wore the condom prior to ejaculation). When I got my period, I started on Ortho Tricyclen Lo right away. Today is my first inactive day. I'm super paranoid, but want to know when I can use the First Response 5 day response test. Note that my cycle without birth control is normally 26 days and if the pill pack has worked as it should and I get my period during let's say my inactive third day then my period will technically be a few days early. So all in all, I'm wondering if the day I choose to use the home pregnancy test should be based on when I should be getting my period according to the inactive days or my normal cycle as this is my first month on the pill. Thanks!

Hi,
since you started birth control pills and because your ovulation and menstrual cycle are now regulated by hormones from the pill, you can't really rely on your period date - there is just too much chance that other things, from the pill to stress, have bigger effect on when your period will come. So, what you can do is to take the test at least two weeks after the sex, because that is roughly the time between last day of ovulation and the start of your period.
