I'm almost on my third week of the pack and it's my first time ever on birth control. I started it on a Sunday, however I did not start on the first day of my period, my period finished about a few days before. Am i still protected from pregnancy or do I need to take the pills for a couple more weeks until I can have unprotected sex? Also I started my period this week...does this mean the birth control isn't effective or just that my body is becoming used to the pill?

i would say after about a month of taking the pills you could have unprotected sex. it is still possible to get pregnant but ive been doing it for 2yrs now and havent had any issues. we also use the pull out method. ur period might be a little outta wack at first but the pills will put you on a regular schedule. just make sure you take them everyday and the same time everyday. if you miss a pill, take it as soon as you remember and continue taking them as you were
