I'm 43 and I have a Re: Fluttering burning, sensation left waist. I have had Acid Reflex for a number of years now.

Any ideas?

I am going to try Metamucil which my doctor suggested I take because I have some symptoms of IBS as well as Acid Reflux.

I had this fluttering sensation today with a bit of pain and bloating. I took Mylanta; let's see what happens. So far so good.

By the way, I am a 32 year old woman.

OK, I found that Metamucil doesn't work nor did the Mylanta (for the gas, yes, for the fluttering, no). I think it has something to do with IBS (my doctor says I have the symptoms) as sometimes I do experience pain in the same area where there is the fluttering, but then realize that it is gas. I check my pulse at the same time and they do not seem connected. I am now on a regular diet of 1/4 cup prune juice every morning just to keep me regular but the fluttering sensations are still there although not as often.

My doctor insists it is just muscle spasms and as one other person wrote, it could be because I have stopped exercising. I start then stop then start then stop all year long, every year. Like every three months for a month I walk/jog then something happens and I quit. So maybe this could be it too. Who knows.

If my doctor says I'm fine, then I guess I am fine. I am not going to worry because if there was something to worry about, I am sure she would have found it. I have been through every test you can think of, stress test, upper GI endoscopy, thyroid, GERD (which I have), pregnancy, etc. I got a VERY clean bill of health, plus I am a 32 year old female relatively healthy (albeit overweight).

So, really, it could be anything! Hope this helps anyone else out there too. Best of luck! :D

I've noticed that I get bouts of these fluttering after taking caffeine pills. I think it has to do with breathing, but I'm no doctor. I actually take a diet pill with ephedra and these spasms seem to come on shortly after. Perhaps you guys drink coffee everyday or something other? I would suggest stopping that and seeing if they get better.

I, too, have been experiencing the fluttering, or vibration, but in my lower abdomen. It is very persistent and annoying. It is possible that it is the neural response to compression between vertebrae in the spine. I have had lower back/sacral pain for some years. In one website, a person had a chiropractic adjustment, and the fluttering disappeared. I have not tried this yet, but many of the people who reported this symptom had been sitting a lot, one on a motorcycle, or had low back pain. I suppose this symptom could occur from compression anywhere on the spine--neck, chest, whatever. Because I am 61 and post-menopausal, I think the idea that it is related to pregnancy is off base. But pregnancy does also affect the spine.

I wondered about caffeine. It seems to worsen with caffeine, but I haven't had any for two days and I am still vibrating.

I've been experiencing a similar thing for about a week, and now I'm getting it over my left scapula. I had a thought, well, the respiratory diaphragm is a muscle, these could be spasms. So I found the trigger point. If you feel where it's spasming and press and hold it, it releases it. At least it's working for me. Feel around for a spot that feels different!
Maybe that will help.
Good luck!

I have acid reflux and experience the fluttering sensation. I didn't even consider a connection between the two until I read that post. I'm probably at least a year too late responding, but if anyone else has acid reflux as well, please email me at _[removed]_

Thanks,

Ashley

I also found it difficult to find any answers on the web.

I have been having a fluttering feeling under my left rib cage. It doesn't hurt it is just bothersome.

My problem is that I don't have any health insurance and I am struggling with the seriouslness of this event.

I have taken muscle relaxers for this (flexeril and norflex) and have not gotten any relief.

The part that scared me is that I just treated my newborn puppies for roundworms. I heard that human infection can result in the worms making their way to a humans lungs.
I'm not feeling any sensation in my lungs or problems with breathing, but it's the only thing I can think of.

If anyone gets an answer, can you please email me at ****

Thank you,
Debbie

I have also had this fluttering sensation for a while. No pain, shortness of breath or anything else.
I guess it started almost right after I had my baby (3 yrs ago), but it was more in my upper belly area. I thought I was pregnant again because it felt similar to a baby moving. It's been on and off since, and in different areas, but lately is more persistent and is now on my lower left side, towards the back.
I'm thinking it's related to gas bubbles or muscle spasms, but I would really like to know for sure, and if there's anything I can do about it (because it is soooo annoying).

I started having this last night and constantly throughout the day today. Same thing...no pain or shortness of breath, it just feels odd. There still isn't much out there about this, but this blog helped. I also have acid reflux. Anyone know anything new? Thanks!

I will give a silly typical response of "I have the same, does anyone know?" hoping the one who knows the answer was just shy and needed more encouragement to speak up.

I have had these exact symptoms.  I know the one person said this could be caused from being out of shape, however, I am 43 and I run and exercise several days a week.  I have been having these symptoms for just over 5 weeks now.  The other symptom I have along with it is I have a very knotted muscle about half=way up my back on the left side of the spine.  I have had blood work, urine work, CT scan, and srays with no answers.  I would be so grateful to have answers.  I have no history of anything else.  The one thing some think is either scar tissue from a surgery or a bulging disc pinching a nerve.  That should have showed on the xray though.  I just do not know.
